groundhog42: What do you need to do to back up games on Desura? Is it just a case of saving the relevant game folder, or are there registry entries or files located elsewhere?
I think its best if you just download the installers/archives again and backup those.
Don't forget to backup your Steam keys as well.
Well, I went through my 10 pages of Desura games, and these are the only ones I'm even a bit upset about losing access to:

12 Labours of Hercules
Alchemy Mysteries: Prague Legends
Arson & Plunder
Braid
Corporate Lifestyle Simulator
Dear Esther
Face Noir
Finding Teddy
FLY'N
Glitchspace
Higurashi When They Cry
Inescapable
Luna's Wandering Stars
Master Reboot
Murder in the Hotel Lisbon
One Late Night
Retrovirus
Saturday Morning RPG
Strata
The Horror at MS Aurora
The Last Chapter of Man
The Sun at Night
Three Fourths Home: Extended Edition
Ultionus: A Tale of Petty Revenge

Several of those I have on another site already, like IGS. So the final list is even shorter. Virtually none of the games I own on Desura has seen a meaningful upgrade in a year (except Three Fourths Home), so I feel pretty secure in just having the backups.

Would be nice if GOG would pick up some of these titles, though.

martigasin: you know what will be super and would put aside all fear of loosing the games that people own on these digital stores when they go down .

Once one of this companies files for bankruptcy. they have to place all the licenses of the games in GOG or STEAM or any digital store.

Maybe the different stores can do bittings on the licenses and by doing so the dying store can make a little money on the way out
I doubt Desura has exclusive licenses Steam and GOG would be interested in. If the games are on Desura but not Steam and GOG, chances are Steam and GOG weren't interested in selling them.

I was surprised that OIO never turned up anywhere else - I only played the first level or so but it was certainly a nice looking game...

*edit* Heh - the amount of GOG regs in the comments!

Maybe GOG could acquire them. Then drop Galaxy and use Desura client instead.

Oh goodness no. That Desura client is a pain in the arse. And is the primary reason I don't bother with Desura.

Well that's true!
Time to react to their financial meltdown by increasing their bandwidth bill.
Always avoided Desura as I didn't want multiple accounts on different sites for all my games, three is more then enough for me.
Hmm, I assume Desura counts as an 'asset' so if Bad Juju has filed for bankruptcy then surely their assets will be sold off. I'm not sure whether anyone would even want to buy Desura...
Well shit. That's where I have (had?) Dom 3 and 4.

(I stopped buying games there soon after the ugly redesign of IndieRoyale.)

I've got one game on Desura, and it just recently added a Steam key, so I'm good there. Desura has/had potential but it had a terrible site layout, a clunky way of letting you get to your games and a whole lot of games that are well...to call them amateur-ish would be an insult to the word amateur. Indie Royale, well, it always seemed a clear step below every other bundle site out there.

Overall I can't see this as a surprise, and I don't mean that as an insult. I've tried giving Desura keys away in the past, and had to practically beg people to take them.

Still better than Galaxy.
Thanks for the heads-up. I only own Hatred there but I'm gonna save it anyway. Can't play it properly on my current rig but I do want to know if it was at all worth all the media attention (played it for a couple of levels on my current PC and so far I would have to say no, though)
