Is it just me or has GOG sneakily bumped up the $AUD pricing on some/all of its games? I swear that a week or two back Deus Ex GOTY was $A9.95 but now it's $A12.69. Divinity 2 was $19.95 and now it's $A25.39. There are plenty more examples. This is a price hike of about 27.5%.

Was there any announcement or reason given for this? Has it happened in any other regions? If not, it's very sly and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed.
The prices seem to go up and down.I don't think they are picking on Aussies...
Games are now generally $7.70 ($6 usd) and $12.70 ($10 usd) but I can't remember what they were before. Our currency has been taking a bit of a hit lately so not surprising I guess.

It has always been 5.99$ US and 9.99$ US. The prices in Europe also went up, because the Euro lost a lot of value in the last few months. But it isn't a price hike on GOG's side, it's simply the result of currency exchange rates.

Lol our dollar didn't suddenly drop in value overnight. A falling AUD might be the reason but GOG still clearly made the decision to raise the prices by a fixed amount.

It would have been nice of them to at least explain that they were re-evaluating their overseas pricing based on current exchange rates, rather than just assuming no one would notice/care. 27.5% is a massive jump and I'm pretty sure it's the only notable price change they've introduced since they started listing in local prices. It's not as if their prices regularly fluctuate or anything.

It seems with all the censorship running rampant in Australia that they are picking on themselves just fine.
GOG said they check the exchange rate periodically and change the prices accordingly. Every currency changes accordingly as to fit with the fair pricing policy.

Yes, they do it by a fixed amount from time to time. Change normally includes currency losses from the former weeks and isn't exactly the actual currency conversion because they take into consideration how the currency will develop.

For me it's normally cheaper to pay in US$ after such a change and a little cheaper to use the € in the weeks before they change it again.

And there is a thread where they announce and explain the new prices. Will see if I can find a link for you.

Child's play, and so is your remark.
Here's the link to the latest update and to the thread in general:

And this whole time I was under the impression that Australians were fun loving pranksters who loved to get drunk and wrestle crocodiles. Apparently they're all too busy getting cranky on internet forums.
Ok I found the thread where they posted about a price increase around 5 months ago:

www.gog.com/forum/general/local_prices_update

They just haven't posted anything about this latest hike. 'Sneaky' might have been a bit harsh but GOG's communication with its customers has always been a strong point (compared to say, Steam). It would have been nice to hear in advance about this increase, given it was significant.
I guess the feeling of it being sneaky comes from the inconsistency of their announcements. They should either make announcements about it or they shouldn't. As it is they gave the impression they would let it be known beforehand, so for it to suddenly change (assuming that was actually the case) will naturally raise some eyebrows.

Maybe they should keep a simple changelog somewhere.
True.

They could just sticky a price changes thread and put a brief post in it each time there was a notable change. Would only take 5 minutes each time! I wouldn't have had any issues if they had made it clear first.

They did in this very post.

"For $9.99 games:

AUD: was 12.29 —> 12.69"

At any rate, since GOG's local currencies for the majority of their games are based on the $, you should not be surprised if the prices go up or down; it's entirely dependent on the current currency exchange rate.
