I'm really not liking these new rules.

i mean if I want to disagree with someone I should be able to.

If I don't like something like Linux that I talk crap a lot about I should be able to hate it.

If I hate GoG Galaxy being tied to the multiplayer of video games and want 100% Digital Rights Management (DRM) free multiplayer and want to talk about it I should be able to.

I should be able to cuss. I cuss with my real life friends and around a bunch of random people in real life as well by parks, etc.

As I said it before gog.com needs to remain unique from Steam.

Only ban hate speech, like racisim and ban scammers and those 1-800 FIND LOVE spammers.

These new rules your going to become exactly the same as Steam gog.com.

Even though Steam's forums have rules it gets very bad there.

People seemed to of controlled themselves here with not so many rules.

It makes sense for it to be. It's a reasonable move.

You have what amounts to a free pass for past discretions, why not just take it, or carry on, that will end well.
You may well have bought games, doesn't stop gog from removing your forum use, the truth will out.

Again, your response is appreciated but completely unnecessary. I don't typically swear at people. That's seriously rude. Sometimes, it is necessary, because there are idiots who won't hear what you say unless you are screaming it in their faces. However, that was not my question, as it is already stated in the rules that insulting and bullying others is not allowed, so it goes without saying that verbally attacking others, whether you are swearing or not is unacceptable. That is why your response is unnecessary. I'm asking about general use, because I do tend to use foul language at times, and I would like to know if there will be repercussions as long as it is not aimed at a particular user or user group. The answer to that question, I'm afraid, you are not qualified to give.

You want someone to "shame on", try the people who forced GOG to change their approach to the forum and introduce proper moderation.

Also, the way I'm reading it, no one is going to prevent you from disagreeing with others or hating something. It's just disagreeing can no longer take the shape of calling people "fuckface" like some users loved to do.

Good rules. Mostly common sense and it shouldn't be hard to follow them.

Sure, if you are in some professional place like a business to speak of meetings or something it's not polite to cuss, but this is a forum, not a professional job work place or whatever.

WHAT is going to be done about the ABUSE from spam and delete of threads and posts???? Is this going to be rectified or left as it is? If you don't think it is ABUSE then you haven't had a thread or post deleted.It is blatant ABUSE!

I'm not qualified to give it either, but here's a rule of thumb about the swearing.
You are visiting a friend of yours out of state (or even out of country), and he tells you he knows a pub/club/watering hole nearby where they serve good drinks and play good music. You go there, and you meet some acquaintances of your friend, that you don't personally know, and you've no idea what your friend's relationship with them is (drinking buddies, co-workers, friends with benefits, or anything else). Knowing that your friend is not going to say anything to you, but they may have to explain your behavior to others, swear as much or as little as you feel comfortable around people you don't know.

So you support your right to express yourself what can only be loosely described by anyone as "language" but others expressions should be completely stifled because you don't like reading it? A lot of people don't like reading your posts, but most of us don't complain about it. I don't (except for right now, actually) and have even vocalized support for your right to type as such. But it doesn't change the fact that the gibberish flowing off your keyboard most of the time is difficult to decipher at best and downright unreadable at worst. Would swearing be ok if I typed it in gibberish? If instead of saying a four letter word that everyone actually understands, I use a word that has literally no meaning, then it does not help me express myself because I then need to spend the next 10 posts explaining EXACTLY what I wrote to everyone who bothered to read my post.
Right. I just want an official answer to make sure I'm not going to be banned. I don't swear A LOT, but enough that it is a concern. That is all. :) We've both been around a while. I think it's a fair question.

As they should be. Were they overly-specific, as I just said not too long ago, we'd inevitably get people trying to sneak around them saying "Hey, this ain't in the rules, it don't count!" and being justified in saying so. Leave it vague and it's up to human interpretation, as all moderation is at its heart.
