still transfering over to GoG. I recall there was an app that GoG was utilizing that allowed this. It has been a few months but I have not heard much more about it. Also will expansions and dlc start to transfer for those respective games?

Ah - GOG Connect.

The launch in June had a fairly big set of games, followed immediately by another set. Then nothing at all during July. About a week ago they added Master of Orion 1-3 available - I believe that offer just ended.

Wait, you mean they actually added things to it? I was almost certain at this point that it was one big publicity stunt and was going to suffer the same fate as the "reclaim your games" section.

GOG doesn't have the power to say "publish your games here/accept connect or else".

GOG depends of their userbase and/or support from outside that respect both the userbase and their policies.

GOG is basically Nintendo.

If you're right about that, then I hope GOG develops in-house, publishes and releases Super GOGbeario Bros as a GOG exclusive.

Yes, they did (and I was astsurprised about this too). You can always check by entering the urrl in the OP. Master of Orion was shown for me last week there.

Yeah, I think a GOG developed game, even a simple small indie type one could be kind of a neat thing to have here, nothing super serious or with any real budget, maybe even just one of the GOG devs fun spare time pet project type of a thing, perhaps even web based or something. :) Mind you, if they did such a cute thing for fun and whatnot, they'd immediately get criticized for devoting valuable resources to frivolous things instead of "fixing the forums" or any of a dozen other things too so I wouldn't hold my breath to see something like that actually happen, but it'd still be kind of neat. :)

Perhaps eventually they could do a simple mini-game as part of a seasonal promo or something. Valve had a stupid promo "clicker" game a year or so ago where you clicked on things repetitively to get some kind of free stuff like trading cards or something, I forget. GOG could probably do something way better than that with less effort. :)


Ooooh... Imagine a GOG bear FPS stealth game, where GOG bear infiltrates big game publishers to bring back old games that are held hostage by legal rights entanglement issues etc. Fighting off the bad pro-DRM guys!

It's great to see how many people still don't realize GOG is part of CD Projekt RED. GOG is not a publisher. They're a storefront.

GOG also should not publish, as they'd be doing the reverse of Valve/Steam, effectively becoming the thing everyone trumpets as their biggest plus.

Do some reading, please. GOG assisted with the ports and offer them but they are not a publisher. Nor a developer, as some might want them to be on this thread. Unless you're next going to tell me the Warhammer 40K series is now under GOG's control?

Split hairs as you wish, but they did not publish the games. They merely offer them on the storefront. Acquiring the rights to re-release and sell is not the same as a traditional publisher or else Valve is the publisher of every game ever released.

The Warhammer games that are here? Yes, they do. The Warhammer IP in general? No.
Just read the link I posted above. They didn't just acquire the rights to rerelease those specific games; they bought the games and could actually release them on other digital stores if they so desired.

Original point stands; I see too many people whining at or about GOG as if they have control over the games other companies make.
