Anothername: 1.) f*c*ing idiot lawyers. "Oh lookie boss, we killed another one off which would have boosted sales of our old stuff without costing us a penny! *drool*"

2.) I still stay by it that it will be released around the same time as Star Trek Excalibur. :P

dudalb: Everybody hates lawyers.......until they need one.

Alexim: Noooooo!

Disney can't handle video games, ever since EA acquires the exclusive Star Wars license we had only two mediocre video games, awkward.

dudalb: I think Disney overeacted, and I dislike EA as much as anybody, but Disney owns the IP and not much you can do about that.
And, to be honest, LUcasarts was pretty much dead for the last few years of when Lucas owned the company.
Quality of the games post 2007 was pretty low at Lucasarts.

Fans have the delusion they somehow "Own" the product they are fans of. In most cases, they don;t.
I should have specified Disneys copyright lawyers. And I sincerely doubt I'd ever need a lawyer that first cost me money by shooting down a fan project which could at best get a significant sales spike on a product of mine without spending a dime and on top of that even wanting to get payed for burning my money; no matter which side of the fence I sit.

no thanks :P
Sometimes I wonder why people even start these projects in the first place. It pretty much always ends this way,and a ton of work goes to waste.

It wouldn't be nearly as frustrting if something was actually happening with Star Wars games, and there was some point to removing such "competition". But as it is, SW in games is pretty much dead. It honestly feels sometimes like Disney wants to piss of the Star Wars fans and drive them away.

Let's barely market Solo at all and release it almost at the same time as Infinity War.
Let's make the new Star Wars animated tv show look worse than the 80s SW cartoons.
Let's cancel a fan project that would have delighted fans and rekindled interest in an IP we own.

Amen.

I was completely shocked when I saw the Solo movie in theaters, because the last bit of press I saw about it was that the movie had trouble.

I got a group together and enjoyed the hell out of it. A goddamn shame about what happened. It was a great movie and I enjoyed it far more than Rogue One.

Who doesn't? ;)
To be honest I would be happier if the post was announcing that the Dark Forces mod for Jedi Academy had miraculously fully finished, and is ready to download. So sad it died.

I didn't see the Solo movie yet, but isn't very hard to make a movie that enjoys more that Rogue One. Is a really bad movie.
Oscar Isaac talking about backlash against The Last Jedi;

“What I think is really special about the whole thing, particularly for people that really didn’t agree with where the story went, is that it’s often a great inspiration to do your own stuff. Obviously, making your own Star Wars movie is a bit of a tough challenge, but at least from a narrative standpoint maybe you make your own thing and then show what you would want. Make what you would want to see.”

...a short while later, on the internet not far from you...

Disney - "Yeah, look don't do that. Don't touch our stuff, at all, ever. Period. Cease and desist you scum."
Oh the irony...

A movie and game series about good versus evil.

Hobby developers 'rebel' against the crap that's being released these days, tinker with a classic old game, then the 'Empire' sends in the Death Star to destroy their Alderaan.
Yep, Disney wrote the New Galactic Testament and upset (disrupted) the established Old Galactic Canon
