Ever since GOG's latest redesign, I've been unhappy with the appearance of the Library (aka Game Shelf) page.

Before, it looked like this. You actually had little boxes sitting on a shelf. It was really cool, and really felt like your own virtual game collection. You could even manually rearrange the boxes if you so desired!

Now, it looks like this. Boring! Not only are the boxes themselves gone, but the box art is cropped away in favor of a ton of unnecessary white space reserved for the games' names (none of which even completely fill those spaces, at least in my collection).

Surely I can't be the only one who misses the old "virtual game shelf" design with the little game boxes. Don't get me wrong, I realize that ultimately the games themselves are most important, but as the old saying goes, "It's the little things that count."

You're not the only one. I liked the old shelf more too. I could make the background black, which provided better contrast and made it easier for me to read. I also liked how it was more compact with less empty space so I could fit more games on screen at once in less space.

I have no idea why they no longer let you rearrange your shelf.
You are not, lots of people have been complaining, whining and being generally obnoxious about it. It's actually refreshing to see a polite complaint like yours.
It's a change due to Galaxy. Galaxy is essentially acting as simplified web browser when it accesses your library page, except all that extra whitespace is filled by buttons/interface elements within Galaxy that do not appear when you view the library through the website (unless you hover over the card).

Nope. Never looked at the shelf unless I wanted to get to a specific game page for downloads.
I don't miss it, really. And I like the artwork they use for games, so missing "boxes" don't bother me either.
I don't miss it, and I was fine with the unbundling. I'm also a happy Galaxy user.

309 people miss the boxes.

62 people miss the shelf.
I miss having the full desktop icon when installed. I hate those round pieces of crap that cut off half the friggin artwork for NO good reason. -_-

Basically I miss the old library in entirety with the old boxes and seamless scrolling (without the annoying page layout) + manual sorting. The new boxes are too bright with too much white colour and cut box art. Hope that the promised themes come soon to correct some of the issues.

Can someone fill me in on what the "Boxes" were? Maybe that was before my time..
While the old shelf with the pictures sure looked nicer I don't miss it much, I can live with the new look. What I really miss is the manual sorting.
Looks nicer to me :|

The "virtual game boxes" in the GOG games Library.
Wow, sure have been a lot of changes here. I had my shelf the way I liked it too, but I do like the filters. Nice to see, for example, which games can run native on my linux box. I like the old shelf and boxes better
