darthspudius: I just illegally downloaded the program that lets you play it. Why anyone would pay for that is beyond me. A complete waste of money. One of those rare moments that I ever agree to pirating.
I have a lifetime licence for DVDFab Media Player. Why? Because I appreciate what that company is doing, giving us options on how to watch DVDs and Blu-rays which is something that the bad guys in the business are trying to take away from us, the paying customers.

Having said that, I also have an unpaid (as in warez) version of TotalMedia Theatre.
Since that software is still among the best software players, it's worth having I think, even though it is no longer updated or sold anywhere. Because there's no way to legally obtain a licence for it, I really wouldn't consider downloading it as piracy. Unlike in games, there's not even any value in the software itself, as it's only a tool to watch content that is located elsewhere (discs or files).

Anyway, if having functional BR menus is not necessary, then there's of course a whole range of options that can be used for watching Blu-rays.

I personally would recommend Daum PotPlayer, as it's free, works well and quite often updated. It doesn't even suffer from all kinds of weird bugs that VLC has (such as not being able to use srt subs, when playing a DVD which has a subtitle option).

ET3D: Thank you!
You're welcome!

rtcvb32: Shifty... heh :P I wouldn't consider them shifty. By law and right you can make a backup copy of your movies, games, music and programs.
I know...but let's be honest here: Their programs enable you not only to make a backup of your legally owned media, but also to go to the next video rental shop, rent any movie for a fraction of the buying price, and rip and copy it before returning the DVD/BR to the shop.

That's the shifty part.

See - I don't question the right to backup...I only question how the percentage split between legal and illegal use is.
My personal guess would be, the big majority of users falls into the second category.

Martek: How certain are you the free version plays Blu-Ray movie discs?

According to their "Free vs Pro" comparison chart, the Pro version is needed for that type of playback
Unfortunately, my laptop has no BR-drive inbuilt, so I cannot test it myself...but as you can see in the attached picture, I got the Pro-version... and under "Settings" it shows the BluRay menu.

(You get a key, to unlock the Pro-version)

I can attest that it plays blu-ray well. I watched two episodes of Wakfu today.

(I already had a blu-ray player before, but it's an old one, and it wasn't able to play Wakfu, which apparently uses a newer format.)

I suppose. I'd fell sorry about it if i wasn't convinced that 99% of the movies they try to make you buy and have the DRM is crap. Makes me glad i never watched queen of the damned, although the book was acceptable, and more a means to an end.

I can just see renting a moving, ripping it, returning it, then watching it and realizing what a piece of crap it was and deleting the rip...

DreamedArtist: Running windows 10 and tried vlc and mpc-hc and the program I have stop working for blu ray stuff and wondering for those here who run media centre pc's for blu rays if you do what do you use to play them?
You could try Leawo Blu-ray Player, which is fully compatible with Windows 10 and offered for free.  There's also SPlayer, but I'm not sure if this one will run properly on Windows 10.

amrit9037: I regret posting this. :P
Then delete it. You shouldn't post stuff that encourages doing something illegal, it's against the GOG forum rules.
