Why would you be envious of a man who doesn't know how to build a computer?
meh, my good reliable laptop is all I need.

Klumpen0815: but screens are power hogs and environmental issues shouldn't be cast aside.

JMich: I was under the impression that LCD monitors were in the area of 30W, so not sure I'd call it a power hog. Or have they gone that higher in energy consumption?
Yes, I don't know where they get that idea. The power hogs of his setup are the GPUs. I doubt all those 3 monitors together consume as much as the CPU.

Elmofongo: Spoken like a true PC Gaming Elitest ;)

realkman666: Or a jealous little girl.
Considering how much that'd cost if I bought it here with the currency floppin around and the sheer lack of value for money; no I'm not jealous at all. Spending close to $1000 extra will kill me knowing what else I can get for it. Like a better new PC or a mid teir motorbike or a century's worth of chocolate.

Well my comparisons would be my mobile ARM cpu and my old three core athlon, but I don't quite get why you are comparing CPU power consumption to screen power consumtion while I just noted, that every additional power needed is to be taken into account. 60W more only to have two screens more you are not focused on most of the time is too much.

Edit: Just looked up the screens, it's 45Watt each, so 90W additional.

I am happy for him, he seems to be really happy to have gotten his new PC. I can't help but think however that he has no clue about PC Hardware judging from this video.

6200RPM harddrives...nope!
8GB 980's...nope!

That case is hideous though and no 4K with dual GTX 980's ? Just confirms that he has no clue about the power he has there.

The three 27" he chose have a huge bezel and are not really suitable for an enjoyable 3 Monitor configuration.

That guy's channel features PC games not mobile games, your Athlon isn't some sort of low power usage beast either, especially for what it has to offer (not even the newer AMDs can compete with Intel) and those monitors will not eat 135 watts all the time, unless he will play some "white games".

Off topic, but you may wish to take a look at f.lux, since the lower brightness would probably help with power consumption as well.

F.lux is awesome, outside of power savings, it really has cut down on my eyestrain from early-morning/nighttime screen use. Makes the screen a lot more pleasant for me in low-light situations.

Shadowstalker16: Really; I find youtubers in general to be better than any non-youtube gaming related info providers. I'm more of a Totalbisquit person......
avatar
awalterj: Totalbiscuit has an eloquent and cohesive way of expressing himself but he is entirely unfunny, plus I don't like his voice and accent. I've tried to watch a couple of his videos but didn't make it to the end in any of them. I guess it's personal preference but what one finds funny and what not and to some people information matters more than entertainment value. I usually don't watch this type of videos for info so I place greater emphasis on entertainment and in that regard Angry Joe is more passionate than most, reminds me very much of myself when I was younger.

For info, I do Blitzkrieg cross referencing, not listening to one person for very long but dive bombing around the net Stuka style, hit & run depending on what it is I need to know. In general, I find it unwise to rely on any one person too much which is why I don't trust politicians and only vote on issues instead of picking people.
Yeah; if it comes to being entertaining AND informative; Joe get my view as well. TB seems to strike a chord with more than him; but it can't be argued AJ always raises good points. Yes; not relying on one person is always the best option. I always make it a point to read user reviews.

Thanks for the tip, I just installed it, nice that there's a Linux port.
My screen is set to 0 brightness all the time anyway so every additional modification is nice, let's see if it works.
