Tooltips are back, but I'm still missing the account button. Well, not that I miss it personally, but Sign Up/Log In team still shows up instead, if entering the forum directly. But this time when I go to main page the Account appears (previously this didn't work, I would have to type the account address manually) from then on. Still protocol-independent.

The Account menu only appears if the protocol is HTTPS.  With HTTP, the "Sign Up" and "Login" buttons are shown instead.  I'm using Firefox 42.0.

I meant missing entirely of course - there wasn't neither account nor sign up/log in. (and it was totally not related)
Please tell me - is point 3 true (let's say it's all http, or all https - no protocol changing):
1. Go directly to forum - there's sign up/log in, no account button
2. Go to GOG.com main page - account button appears
3. Go back to forum - account button is there

Tested several times with FF and Midori, cleared caches in-between, only one protocol per attempt, tried with both http and https but separately.

With FF it's exactly like you described, regardless of the protocol. In Midori, the Account button is lost after step 3, it didn't matter which protocol was used or even if they were switched during steps.

The "ACCOUNT" menu is back, and I haven't noticed any problems today so far elsewhere on the site so that's a good sign. Many thanks for fixing!

on my browser the account button is no longer avoiding the forum pages and unity and happiness has been restored to all UI elements. the team is reunited. fuzzy feeling.

HypersomniacLive: When I first logged in today, from the General Discussion forum page, I was presented with the Sign Up/ Log In buttons instead of the Account tab, even though he page showed my favourited topics and the "New Reply" gears next to some threads. So, I was clearly logged in.

After visiting the front page, where the Account tab showed just fine, I refreshed the forum page, and the nav-bar behaved as should.

It's not the first time, and I'm pretty certain it won't be the last one either.
Today we're back to this. Testing if the notifications update as should without having to revisit the front page every single time pending.

Is this the fix? While thanks go to Johny. for taking the time to come up with a fix during his weekend off, this behaviour is, imho, still a bug I've had many times before.

Unfortunately, the issue isn't entirely fixed.
It's true that the account button is back and the popup list does appear on avatars again, but the grey number indicating new chat messages etc... isn't updated as long as you don't go out of the forum and to the main page.
I've jumped around the board for a while and there was only the "2" because of some Mac El Capitan stuff that doesn't concern me and when I went to the main page it changed to 7 because I've gotten some chat messages in the last hours.
