I just wrote a review for it but I can't seem to find it even though I submitted it. Not sure what the deal is. I'm not gonna write the whole thing up again, so I will be brief and get to the point.

I bought this game on Steam a few months ago during one of the big sales. I was excited at the prospect of a new 3D platformer. However, it quickly became apparent that the game is being falsely advertised. It is NOT a 3D platformer. You know why? Because there is no platforming.

You don't have a jump button. Well, not a proper one anyway. Instead, you hold down a button and anytime you come into contact with something you can jump on, you will automatically jump right to it. No skill required.

The gameplay is absolutely nothing like ANY of the games it is advertised as being supposedly similar to. There's no platforming, the collecting of shiny objects is minimal, the combat is a bad ripoff of the Batman: Arkham combat system and most of what I played before I was forced to turn it off from sheer disgust at wasting my money consisted of running around, automatically jumping where it told me to, beating up some dudes and then doing an absolutely tedious and slow puzzle solving segment (slow in that you had to escort this dude around an area and he walked like he was trudging through quicksand.) The game is basically a terrible Zelda game more than anything else. Remember Star Fox Adventures? It's like that, but worse.
Your review is showing, it usually takes a few minutes or so to show up.

The game is labeled as a platformer and presented as one, thanks for the heads up.

Also, strange that there is currently no subforum for that game.
Thanks for the warning, I hoped for something like Mario 64 but seem to have been misled.

Agreed. I quite liked and enjoyed the game for what it is, but it doesn't deserve to get flak from all sides just because people expected something different, so the advertising should be careful to avoid these misconceptions. Personally, I thought it was closer to games like MIni Ninjas than Jak and Dexter or similar. It's not an action-packed platformer for people who are looking for a challenge, it's more of a cute videogame version of a colorful storybook for kids or the whole family.

In the release thread, Leroux posted some information about the game, but if you didn't followed the topic closely so you can read his post, you can be misleaded by the way it is labeled in the gamecard.

There is but there's nothing in there yet!

Ah. That's interesting, I'll knock that one off my radar then as I was mainly interested in it as a Mario 64 / Banjo Kazooie alike rather than a Zelda type game.

Thanks for the heads up :)

But on that topic.... why aren't there more Mario 64 / Banjo Kazooie games around? I spent a huge amount of time with both games on the N64 but you don't often see similar games any more...
So what genre is it then? FPS? RPG? MMORPGSCHMUPS?

I presume it was marked as a "platformer" because that is the closest genre to it... right?

I wonder that too.. maybe it has to do with the total sales of them being too low on the PC? Also, there are many devs of 3D platformers (& action games in general) that make games specifically for the consoles. Thankfully, we can emulate a lot of console systems on our PCs so console exclusives are not.. exclusive anymore*! :-)

* and cheap too! Daxter or Ratchet & Clank for the PS2 for £3 for example... ;-)

The developers called it an action adventure.

Which means nothing.
Thanks for the heads up. I had wishlisted it, but I'll be sure to look into it more carefully.

Which in turn means noone could complain about false advertising. :P
