It's not based on anything exactly, but it is inspired by Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand and Orwell's works, and the TV movie Goliath Awaits. And it shares a lot of similarities with a Batman: The Animated Series episode Deep Freeze (one could even say it rips it off).

It is kinda based on Atlas Shrugged, but Levine made that good society fall apart in his game.

Looks like the difference that you have"http" and I do not... Strange... I could swear that a month ago I did not need to use that syntax of writing the url...

I wouldn't even go that far. To be honest, I think it is a better game. Certainly not as dated. As much as I love System Shock 2 it is getting pretty archaic.
