hi!

this may seem a bit strange but ...

I notice a few avs are pix of peoples cat

at least I presume its their own cat (or dog - dont get me wrong Im not anti-dog just very pro-cat)

what I was wondering was what do you guys think of it

I mean is it kind of immoral or unethical to put ones cat out their

you know, it doesnt have a choice - it cant really give you permission

Id love to see some feedback on this if possible. no judgementalsim just opinions >^~^<

cheers ;-)
That's nothing, I put embarrassing videos of my cat up on YouTube without his purrmission.

its not so much a "problem" with it

it jsut occured to me that it might be considered a moral or ethical issue

at least by some - it depends on where you draw the line with animal rights I guess
Maybe they should start a union about it then.

That's nothing. I put the pic of my gold out there, and it can't even protest.

Uhm, it's a cat. It doesn't care. Nothing you do with pictures of it is going to affect it one way or another, unless you set the pictures on fire and throw them at it. It's not like its cat friends will see embarassing pictures of it on Facebook and start bullying it in the schoolyard because of it.

I love cats. I've been a cat owner all my life. However, this kind of anthropomorphization is silly. It's an animal, not a human. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be nice to your animals, but don't try to apply purely human concepts to them.

theres already animal rights advocates but ...

maybe something more internet specific to help

just to get the thing started - ideas and the like - could be called a "union"

Does this mean I should probably stop dressing up my cats in little outfits and talking to them?
I can't communicate with my cat well enough to know whether or not she has a history as a member of one of the cultures that believes that photographs steal parts of your soul, so I stopped taking pictures of her. I've also stopped scaring Native Americans with the vacuum cleaner.

But really, people take pictures of each other and put them online without permission all the time, and it's not like animals care either way. In fact, I'd recommend taking a lot of pictures to remember them once they're gone. It seems like it'd be far more cruel to forget a beloved pet than to take a picture without consent they can't give.

No people can not speak for animals as you pointed out. We need to find the cat king that speaks all languages.
I think that as the same as many people don´t care about their pics being used by other people, cats don´t care either.

I´ll go as far as say they´d prefer people to put cat only avatars. After all people should honour their superiors.

BASTET APPROVES OF THIS!

yes I see what you meen

but there are other animal rights issues

you know the whole way we treat animals today

the industrialised food production methodds used

there are also the more "spiritual" consequences of this

the world is a more bloody and violent place today than ever andf we need tto realize the connections between our own cruelty to one anther and the way we treat animals
