I'd like to include another favourite game - Freelancer. Unlike Freespace, you can play without joystick and I have spent a lot of time just gazing at beautiful nebulae.
Tough company when still many stellar selections remain amid the GOG GALAXY. A veritable constellation shine from Star Wars, BattleStar Galactica, Star Trek, UFO, a search using the keyword "star" provided 173 responses with Star Control, Rangers, Vikings, Wolves, or even Astro ...; whether exploring or traveling among the stars & planets; maintaining, restoring, or finding a lost civilization; on either side of colonization or an invasion; even smuggling & pirating or policing if that's your game; designing species, repopulating, & generating an ecosystem; plenty of room at the bottom & beyond many imaginable or unforeseen horizons. Also, don't forget FallOut 3 had the DLC "MotherShip Zeta"; as if the Wasteland & the nuclear clouded atmosphere could ever prevent (or a shipload of hostile Zetans) seeing & dreaming upon the Heavens again?

Great game and it was mentioned a couple times already but I don't fault you for not noticing. :)
Mass Effect series was missed
