Let’s celebrate Star Trek Day in the best way possible, by bringing back and enjoying some of the best classic Star Trek games now available on GOG.COM!

This year marks the 55th anniversary of the first Star Trek show airing on TV as well as the 100th birthday of the late Gene Roddenberry, who imagined a future in which people have overcome their differences and gone on to explore strange new worlds and seek out new life and new civilizations.

What started as a quirky sci-fi TV show in the ’60s, has become one of the biggest and most recognizable franchises in Western entertainment. 55 years, 11 TV and streaming series, and 13 blockbuster movies later, the Star Trek universe is still growing with unique characters, beautifully designed starships, alien races, and amazing adventures that bring us joy and hope for a better future.

Games: the final frontier
Star Trek also made its mark on the world of video games. The first text-based computer games set in the universe are dated back to 1971, with many official and even more unofficial releases appearing in arcades, on Apple I and II computers, various models of Atari, the Commodore 64, and all the way to DOS and Windows PCs.

You might already know about the adventure games Star Trek: 25th Anniversary and Judgment Rites but an absolute golden era of Star Trek games began at the end of the ’90s and the beginning of the 2000s with new games landing every few months. Unfortunately, many of those titles have become unavailable in recent years and are basically unplayable on modern machines.

This changes now with 6 classic Star]https://www.gog.com/partner/startrek”>Star Trek games releasing for the first time in digital distribution on GOG.COM.

Discover 6 classic Star Trek games
Preserving classic games is very close to our hearts, so we made sure that these games are up to date, running smoothly on Windows 10, and some of them even offer a working LAN multiplayer.

Every game from this list will give you a unique opportunity to immerse yourself into the world of Star Trek, interact with beloved characters, and explore new parts of the universe.

In Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force you become a security officer on board of USS Voyager, assigned to a new special unit called the Hazard Team. Together with AI-controlled crewmates, you take on the most dangerous missions, including fighting the Borg. Between the missions, you can explore the ship and interact with the well-known bridge crew with all the actors reprising their roles.

Star Trek: Elite Force II takes the first-person shooter experience to the next level with improved visuals (it’s one of the best-looking games using the Quake III Arena engine), and a set of new missions to complete. This time, your character is being transferred to serve on Enterprise-E where you receive your orders from Captain Jean-Luc Picard himself!

Star Trek: Hidden Evil also gives you a chance to assist Captain Picard and Lt. Cmdr. Data with both Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner reprising their roles. In this third-person adventure game, you take the role of Ensign Sovok and explore alien ruins and try to save your team before the conniving Romulans make use of an ancient biological weapon.

This next game is perfect for everyone wanting to run special operations on new planets. Star Trek: Away Team is an isometric turn-based tactical game influenced by titles like Commandos and the X-Com series. You need to pick the best away team for each mission and lead its members through dangerous covert operations across locations like the Klingon homeworld, a Borg cube, and Starfleet Academy.

Star Trek: Starfleet Command III gives you a tactical challenge of a completely different scale. In this game, you play the story campaign as a Klingon, Romulan, or Federation captain. Your task is to customize your starship and lead it into space battles while uncovering a plot around the construction of the first Klingon-Federation space station.

Finally, Star Trek: Bridge Commander is probably the most immersive Star Trek gaming experience as it sits you in an actual captain’s chair, surrounded by a crew waiting for your orders. Combat is not the main focus of this title as you spend a lot of time talking to your crew, managing the ship, exploring space, assisting endangered colonies, and conducting diplomatic negotiations.

Make it so!
We hope you’ll enjoy these 6 classic Star Trek games, all updated to work on modern computers, and now available on GOG.COM. In addition, two real-time strategy titles, Star Trek: Armada and Star Trek: Armada II are coming soon and you can now add them to your wishlists.

As every game on this list offers you a different experience and a chance to meet some of your favorite characters, let us know in the comments which one is your favorite and why!

Is there any chance of ST T TNG "A Final Unity" finally making an appearance on GOG? Sir Patrick Stewart isn't getting any younger. I saw ST TNG as a young boy back in the 1980's. Instant hero worship. I'd love to have a piece of him in the form of ST TNG AFU, beside ST TNG DVDs

Oh and two more games are missing: ST DS9 the Fallen and ST Dominion Wars.

Sarafan: Looks like Trekkies invaded the bestseller list on GOG. It makes an impression given the fact that the games aren’t on sale. :)
I'm glad someone finally listened to us. We've been asking for a long time. Hoping this leads to the acquisition of more Star Trek games. :)
Thank you!

That was published by Spectrum Holobytes which looks like was acquired by Hasbro Interactive so not sure how the rights on that one are.

There are MUCH more than two games missing.

To begin with, all those old Star Trek text adventure games are not legally available anywhere. Some of them were from Simon & Schuster, and they would be a wonderful publisher to sign, because they also made Star Trek: Klingon and Star Trek: Borg adventures.

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier and Star Trek: Generations are two movie-based games that are not available either.

There are also some very obscure games like Star Trek: Pinball or Star Trek: The Game Show, which weren't very popular even when they were available, probably because they were so obscure.

There are also some old games which are obviously based on Star Trek, but all names have been changed to avoid legal/licensing problems.
For instance, Star Fleet games:

Voice cast could also cause an issue depending on how the original contracts were handled.

Hopefully that means a sale at a fair price is imminent, so the rest of us who want them can buy them.

Gudadantza: Selecting what you want to purchase and to decide if it is a deal or not is just in your own.
The way I see it, there are two main types of seller.

1. Those who sell at a fair price, respecting the customer. And why not, as that customer is supporting them, often been a fan and given them plenty of money and support in the past ... and without the customer, they are nothing.

2. Those who try to charge as much as they can get away with, disrespecting the customer in the process. That last is especially the case, when it happens to be fans or long-time supporters. Apparently they are not worthy of any consideration by the seller. It is all about profits for this type of seller. They care nothing about the customer or the product or even the developer in many cases. They care nothing about growing the brand, just short term profit.

Guess which one I have no respect for.

Count me as another one wanting Star Trek: Borg. I own a physical copy, getting it to run on a modern OS is a nightmare, but I love the setting(and delicious Q-grade ham).
Well, if we all post the Trek games we personally wish for, fine, I'll play along.

From Interplay I'd like Klingon Academy the most. Great sim, IMO even a little better than Starfleet Academy, because the stakes in the story are a lot bigger and the ships feel like they have some actual weight/mass to them. Starfleet Command 2 and Orion Pirates ... well, for the sake of completeness.

From Microprose I'd like "A Final Unity" and "Klingon Honor Guard". Question is, who'd be involved with these titles? Wasn't that Hasbro or something?

And from the Viacom / Simon & Schuster corner of the woods, I'd like the two interactive movies, "Klingon" and "Borg". Plus the DS9 games, especially "The Fallen". "Harbinger"'d be nice too, though.

It's awesome to see these classics brought to GOG.COM, especially since it includes an all-time favourite of mine, Star Trek: Away Team (own it on physical media too) - clumsy controls, but nice story arc.

For me, this was an instant buy (for all of them), and I am eagerly awaiting the remaining two announced titles Armada (own it on physical media) and Armada II.

However, I was somewhat saddened to see that two other iconic titles were not included:

- Star Trek: The Next Generation - A Final Unity (developer Spectrum Holobyte / publisher in EU: MicroProse)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek%3A_The_Next_Generation_%E2%80%93_A_Final_Unity

(one of the more decent point and click adventures set in the STTNG universe, released in 1995, available on classic MacOS and MS-DOS)

- Star Trek: Birth of the Federation (developer MicroProse / publisher Hasbro Interactive)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek:_Birth_of_the_Federation

(nice 4X game set in an STTNG era-derived universe, though this probably should have been set pre-TOS)

While I understand these titles aren't directly from Activision, they would be instant-buys for me as well, especially when the STBOTF 3D battle crash bugs could be worked out.

A nice bonus would be:
- Star Trek Starship Creator (developer Imergy / publisher Simon & Schuster)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek:_Starship_Creator

Not a game per sé but you could design a ship and crew and send it on missions. Have Tribbles on your ship and then encounter the Klingongs. Beam Tribbles to Klingon ship to get rid of your problem.

Fun stuff :D

I couldn't agree more.

Star Trek: The Next Generation - A Final Unity is one of the best point and click adventures, especially considering its age. Great story too.

Besides Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - The Fallen and Star Trek: Dominion Wars, which you already mentioned, there are more titles missing that would make a nice addition:

Star Trek: Birth of the Federation
(great 4X game that should have started pre-TOS era)

Star Trek Starship Creator
(design a startship, assign a crew, send it on mission, they get TrIbbles on board and meet the Klingons, beam Tribbles to Klingon ship to solve your problems and see what happens)

I'm currently playing Bridge Commander and I have to say that the game is incredible. Immersion is on some totally cosmic level and it isn't spoiled even by outdated graphics. It's absolutely sensational! It's not only a game, but also an interactive experience. The only downside is that the game is quite short, but you can extend it by playing custom battles. Anyone who had at least a brief contact with Star Trek should try it. It's one of those must-plays. :)
