I can find lots of things in the daily news that scare the hell out of me and are causs for legitmate worry, without getting paranoid about AI.
It is going to be interesting when it leaks out that a lot of game companies and designers are going to be using AI.. in fact I would make a sizable bet that a lot of them are already using AI.
But I guess going crazy over AI is this week's flavor of Internet Paranoia.
And I repeat there are lot more serous issues to be scared about.
And as for the people going to Steam because of this, I would bet my next paycheck that STEAM is alredy using AI.

And if anybody thinks this will slow down in any real way the use of AI, they are iving in their own little reality.

Getting the support being swamped in requests surely makes this store a better experience for everyone.

Why should they apologize for using an AI banner? Why do you deserve apology for something that doesn't affect you.

if they want to run this remote outpost (as it were) on ai slop vibes instead of paying people then I don't feel inclined to spend my money here anymore. it's no longer going to anyone I'm interested in enriching. let the company sink with all my purchases, I can find the installers for them just about anywhere else anyways.

ai is not inevitable - it wouldn't need a sea of defenders to pour out of the woodwork if it was. pour on the backlash whenever you find it.

If you are going to use AI at least make it look good!? It's clear that no effort went into this image whatsoever. There is some really good AI art out there where people are spending hours to generate a really good picture and then inpaint to make it even better. This was clearly made in like 15 minutes. Lazy AI slop you could say. Heck, you could have payed somebody on fiverr to make a better AI Banner for you.

And you can say about Steam and Valve whatever you want, but at least they are paying actual artists for their store art.

250 games on here. Will not acquire a single game more via GOG until they state they're not going to use generative AI in the future. Period. No coding. No art. Ya'll just really went and shot yourselves in the face after ALMOST making a huge win by finally getting movement on a Linux client...

I don't think I've ever used the GOG forums before, but I'll chime in to say I'm extremely disappointed in GOG using AI in a way that resulted in lost paid work to someone. Apologise to the community and do better.
