.erercott: That isn't true at all. That isn't even why I started the thread. If you insist that I would only speak out I will no longer read or care since it isn't related to me or relevant to what I am typing.
Secondly, I'm glad you aren't bothered. I am. Steam doesn't deal with this crap.
I go to steam and every holiday has unique art, they have badges, stickers, trading cards all with unique assets and even some clicker games. I log in to see GOG and the first thing I see is a horrendous rendering of some guy next to the numbers 2026...that's so boring. Lazy. I want to buy games. Not be sold games.
There's no joy.
Is GOG broke ? Can they not keep the lights on ? Are they the online equivalent of some beggar?
Then why is the art say it ? Why not be like Steam in that sense ? Is the gap that large ?
I can't be thankful. I'm sorry. That art sucks. GOG should make better use of their assets.
That is horrid! It's sad. I feel weakened. I might need to see a doctor. I'm frail.
and in all seriousness and fairness I don't deserve such a low effort cash grab.
It's very shallow and a pity that a company like GOG can't get their crap together.
Look at steam. Glossy, cheerful, frolicking with color and spirit.
GOG should drop the O and keep it GG.
You cannot be serious. Comparing GOG to Steam is just silly. GOG is a tiny insignificant company that's barely making ends meet. Steam is awash with money. A single engineer at Valve makes more than the entire office full of people in Warsaw. Valve takes their entire staff to Hawaii every year, FFS! So yeah, if GOG can manage to save some money by having banners that are not entirely perfect, I say that's perfectly fine.
For what it's worth, I didn't even notice anything wrong with the banner until you mentioned it, and I zoomed in and poured over every pixel. Because it's not a big deal and nobody spends their days examining marketing banners.
.erercott: No you wouldn't. You're actively saying you'd eat processed foods over real ingredients. Quit defending a company that doesn't value you and do the reverse. Expect better. Don't stoop to their level. The art is suck and no one can make a compelling argument for its inclusion. It's a lie. Pick up a history book. Specifically an art one.
Yes I would. And don't be absurd, comparing marketing banners to food is just silly.
You seem to be under this false impression that you are supposed to have a personal relationship with the company. GOG isn't my close friend, they are a vendor. I buy from them for several reasons, none of which have anything to do with the quality of their advertisement art. I honestly, fully, entirely, 100%, don't care if their banners are AI generated, painted on canvas by a famous artist, or don't exist at all. In fact, if GOG became a text-only site that wouldn't affect my reasons one bit.
So yeah, I'm not here for the art, I'm here to conduct transactions to obtain the goods that I want. And yeah, of course they don't value me. They don't know me. Nor do I know or value them. This is business, not a famly reunion.
