Maxvorstadt: Yeah, really shocking news! I wonder how the politicians will react to this?

Let`s hope not. But if you look at our politicians it`s sadly very likely!
BTT:
Pre-order is a thing I don`t like. If I pay for something I want to have it and not the -maybe broken- promise to get something. Nowadays if you pre-order you then get a buggy game that is not half as complete as it should be. The most terrible thing in my opinion is early acces, where you pay a company money to be the beta tester for them, a job that a company has to do by itself.
I don't think some people stopped pre-ordering because they don't trust day one releases. But more because they already have a huge (depending of the person's point of view) backlog, preventing them to think about buying new games.

I believe that bundles or sales did compete pre-order, and there are too many games (old and recent) to play with.

Here is a good article that has sound advice regarding the pitfalls of preordering and how it is inherently an anti-consumer practice once again using Star Wars: Battlefront as an example.

You'd Have To Be Crazy To Pre-Order 'Star Wars: Battlefront'

Riotact: I don't "get" pre-ordering, its not like a site will run out of keys, but I guess a pre-order discount can be appealing to some people, I tend to wait for reviews, sales or buy 2 hand console games.
Well the most justifiable reasons are a limited included bonus, especially if it's physical. Obviously pre-ordering digitally isn't usually worth it unless you get a discount, a good bonus that would cost money otherwise, or the ability to pre-load the software before release.
So, does that mean that humanity has suddenly become 12% smarter?

Presumably, but only in Europe so far it seems. ;)
