Perhaps it is just because it is an old game, but I have noticed some audio problems with the bird chirping in the starter area. I don't quite know how to describe it other than saying it sounds fuzzy, like from a bad speaker. Is it supposed to sound this way, or is it a problem on my end? I just bought the game, so I don't know if the problem persists throughout, but I would like to fix it if at all possible.

If it turns out that this is just how the game sounds I will deal with it. I might have to just stop wearing headphones while I play.

I started playing this weekend, and didn't notice a problem. Is it just the birds that are fuzzy, or are other sounds that way too?

I think I had this problem in the first two or three games as well, but not in the fourth or fifth game. I have no idea what the problem is, but I would also appreciate it if someone knew how to fix it.

I have played a little farther and I have heard other sounds that sound just fine. Maybe it is just the bird sound. I will update when I hear more sounds.

Catoblepas, well at least I'm not the only one. Maybe someone will know why then.

I am starting to notice that this problem seems to happen with any audio clip that is extended. Short noises like an ornk moo are fine, but audio clips that are long have the static fuzz effect.
I have the same problem. Geneforge 1 worked fine. In the beginning, Geneforge 2 did too, but then, suddenly, some of the sounds sounded scratchy. As you have already said, it seem to be the longer background sound files.

I reinstalled the game, but this didn't solve the problem. For now I have set the Background Sounds to Off under Preferences. This is not really a solution and takes away some of the atmosphere, but it made the game playable for me again.
