Hello,

At the beginning of the game, when à save the game and I reload it, I get the right part of the screen/window black.
I tested on two computers because I thought about a hardware issue.
But either these PCs have the same harware issue or there's a bug in the game.
This bug can be worked around by going left/right then getting back.
But looks strange.
One PC (the first one) is a Seven 64 the second one is a Seven 32.
Both have NVIDIA Video card and a Create sound Card.

Fullscreen mode and Window mode give the same result.

You can see the window copy attached.

Yes, it's a known bug that sometimes hit. You usually can avoid it by running the game with DirectDraw instead of Direct3D. Run winsetup.exe in the game's installation folder to change the mode. In rare cases the game doesn't run in DirectDraw mode. If so, try explicitly installing DirectX9 from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109. If it still doesn't run, you'll have to fall back to Direct3D.
By a strange coincidence, I decided to install Gemini Rue yesterday and have the exact same problem. I'm running the game on a Windows XP SP3 rig equipped with a GeForce GTS 450 graphics card. Annoyingly, changing Direct3D 9 to DirectDraw 5 in winsetup.exe and restarting the game does not make any difference on my system: the game starts normally, but reloading a save still screws up the right half of the screen. I've taken a look at other forums (Steam, Wadjet Eye...), and haven't seen any other solution offered.

I wonder if this bug might be specific to nVidia cards? I suppose I could experiment with other driver versions, but I don't feel it's worth the hassle. As Alain pointed out, it's not a big deal - exiting the current "room" and then backtracking to it makes the game redraw the scene correctly. I'll just have to live with it.
Something that looks to be more strange about this bug is that the save file seems to be corrupt when being in DirectX mode.
When you go to DirectDraw mode, and you load a save file saved in DirectX mode, you get the bug.
If you load a DirectDraw save file it's all right.

Moreover, when you go to DirectX mode and you load a save file saved in DirectDraw mode, the game crashes with a message box (see picture attached).

Well, the player has to chose its video mode and must keep it till the end of the game.

This should be in the FAQ of the game.
I'll stay in directDraw mode.

Thanks for the help.

I hadn't tried that. I had only checked my previous Direct3D saves. Thanks for the tip! :-)

I'm no expert, but my guess is that this error message means the DirectDraw version uses a different color depth (16-bit?) than the Direct3D version (24- or 32-bit?), and the "missing" data in the save file causes the game engine to crash.

I think I'll do the same. At first glance, graphics quality looks similar in either mode.
