I really want to pick up this game but the shooting bits mentioned by some reviewers are really putting me off. Are there a lot of them in this game, and are they difficult? I'm pretty sure I'll have to die a few times before I can complete them because I ALWAYS die in timed/action sequences.

Thanks.
I also don't like mixing adventure games with dexterity content. I hated the canyon fights in Full Throttle.
The shooting moments are seldom, you can lower their difficulty and there's always an autosave before they happen.
There are only few shooting sequences and those are rather short and easy even on the normal difficulty. Don't let those scenes prevent you from enjoying the story. It's one of the best stories I have seen in recent adventure games.
Agree with the former comments. Shootouts happen seldom and shouldn't be big nuisance even if you died a few times. Also once you get a hang of the controls, they're shouldn't prove any challenge even on the higher difficulty.
I dont know about it being little nuisance, frankly im about to shelve it due to the stupid combat. its annoying, does nothing for immersion and doesnt work very well.

There are only a few, I haven't had a problem with them. Don't let them overshadow the other great elements of this game.
They are the frustrating part of the game.
