Edit: This bug was hotfixed by the developers
Edit 2: The bug is in fact still around, although it's triggerd in different circumstances, which I didn't really figure out so far. Solution is still valid

Apparently a new bug was introduced with patch 1.8 (at leat I did not notice it before): If a fleet which has used a part but not all of its movement points uses the "guard" or "pass" command next to a shipyard, the turn won't end when you click it. The button changes to "wait" and the AI turns aren't processed. The game remains responsive though and you can continue to play once you issue a movement command to the fleet(s) causing the problem. Notice: the ships don't actually have to move (they can't when they "passed"), issuing the command already is enough.

Just letting you know so you won't rip your hair out like me, trying to find out what the f*** is wrong with the game... ;)

I my self am having problems with this bug too. Seems when a ship is being completed, the game will lock up, and even proceed to even lock up my computer.

Will there be a fix for this soon as the game is not very playable as it stands?
Solution seems to be related to your Video card.

Make sure to DL the latest drivers.

Should fix the problem, and improve game play overall.

This would really surprise me, as it's not a graphical issue. Might give it a try though...
1.8 Hot patch #3 (Released 6/28) at the steam site saying it fixes the freeze problem.
So when are we going to get it?

Does version 1.82 improve the situation with the game or is the bug still around for you?

JudasIscariot: Does version 1.82 improve the situation with the game or is the bug still around for you?
Edit: Sorry, did not realise another patch was released. Haven't testet 1.82 yet. The below statement is valid for 1.81.

The bug is still around for me in 1.81 but not triggered as often as space ships leave their space port with full movement points now. In contrast to my first impression the bug has nothing do with proximity to space ports but can be triggered by any fleet anywhere on the map that goes to "guard" or "pass" command with less than maximum but more than zero movement points.

However, I did not update my gpu-drivers yet as the user rebeg suggested (was busy with other things). The patch did fix some other serious freeze problems though, so i recommend to install it.

After some quick tests I can confirm, that the bug is still around in 1.82
