Gaunathor! Good to see you again, I hope RL has been treating you better lately.

I agree that the CU went a little (a lot, in some areas) away from the base game, but I also thought it made for a much more enjoyable experience. That said, I'm quite biased from having played about a zillion test games with the CU during its development.

Ideally CU and AT would just be switchable mods pre-bundled with GC2 so that players could decide which worked better for them. I wonder, does AT work well with the new binary that FrogBoy generated to solve some of the code bugs we just couldn't work around?

Hi, Silas! Yes, RL has been somewhat better lately. Primarily because my terror of a neighbour finally left. My new neighbours are also a bit noisy, but not anywhere like he was.

About as well as the CU, I'd say.
I think it's time for a status-report.

It took a bit longer than expected, but the integration of the CU into the game is almost complete. There is still one misplaced file, but that only affects playing on the Metaverse (i.e., the online-leaderboard). Everything else is working perfectly.

We also got some reports of bugs in the flavour text files and typos, and I'm in the process of fixing those. Once I'm done, I'll send the files in to Stardock.

Those were the good news.

The bad news is that the update won't be finished this year. Stardock is preparing to close down for the holidays. So any work on the update has to wait until next year.

Great news !! And... less great news... But the good side is that they will work on it soon :)
Thanks again for your efforts ! (and for the news by the way) I can't wait to have the fixed version, and your mod !

Thanks for working on this. I`m looking forward to the fixed version of GC2.

Happy holidays!

Looks like the update has hit Stardock and Steam - just not GOG yet.

Anyway, thanks for keeping us updated!

Well, GOG should get the update soon, but I'm still surprised that it's already out. We are still in the process of fixing some stuff (mostly typos), and there is also the misplaced file to consider (which hasn't been fixed yet). Looks like we're going to get another update next year. <.<
So the update released on Steam is separate from the CU?

No, the update is the CU.

I just had the impression that the CU was not finished yet so it made me wonder why an official patch from Stardock suddenly would appear.

Thanks for the clarification though:)
Has anyone tried the latest patch yet? I just installed GOG's version of GalCiv2 v2.20, but I need to know if anything in the options menu needs to be changed, such as in Options -> Game Options -> Current Mod Directory. Because of the previous CU patch problem, I had to set the directory to "...\\Mods\Fix" Will this need to be changed for GOG's newest patch?

The CU is now fully integrated into the game, and works fine.

Continuing to use the Fix mod shouldn't cause any issues. All it does is undoing the changes made to the UI by the CU. You only need to deactivate the mod, if you want to use the changed UI.

Can you tell me what the original path is? I had to reinstall the game, but apparently my previous settings were still kept. Was the original mod path "...\\Mods?"

The original path is "...\\Mods\Default".
