The manual for Gabriel Knight refers to "the graphic novel that was included in your box", and says that it will "become important to understand what is happening to Gabriel as the story in the game unfolds."
Why is this graphic novel not included as a PDF in the GoG release? From the description it sounds like it provides important backstory.
Don't worry. Though the manual says it it "become important" it isn't. The comic contains backstory that is touched lightly in the game's story, being set around the time of the enslavements of Africans in America. It expands the story behind "Sins of the Father" by looking at what exactly that "sin" was.
You actually see some of it during the initial dream sequence when you start a new game where all the imagery actually tells the story, just not as in-depth as the comic does.
You can see it off-site here: http://gkart.ucoz.com/load/5-1-0-8
It comes as a .rar file and unzips into a pdf. At least you'll be able to see it until they get a copy on GOG.
Agreed! Would be great if this could be included.
Personally, I'd love for the novelisations of 1 & 2 to be added here. A pipedream I know, but still...
Yaaa... I was honestly a bit shocked to see that they didn't include the graphic novels in the extra goodies section. Those things are excellent material for the games -- even though you don't need them to solve puzzles, etc.

They're worth adding.

GOG. Do it. :-P
yeah, do it :)

wow i didn't expect it to be such good quality! Nicely done!

well i don't think it is "touched lightely" as the whole story is a repetition of past events and actually the whole plot takes its roots in the event described in the novel. During the game, you get the synopsis at one time, but knowing it beforehand adds a lot of depth to what's going on on the screen and you can identify many of the stuff that's mentioned or shown graphically.

I played through the original game many times and I don't remember the graphic novel at all or what it included, so i doubt it is important.
well, new additional materials get added from time to time for games so here's hoping the GoG team will get this :)
especially as it is very good on its own ground.
