Hello all,

I've owned GK1-3 for years now and for whatever reason, despite really enjoying it, I've taken years between trying the follow-ups. So since we're deep into quarantine, decided to try installing GK3 yesterday (and thanks to forum / review workarounds) and finally got it to work in Win 10.

But here's my issue after 20 minutes of play:

WTH is with that control scheme?

I found it really difficult to move around the hotel room, much less outside the hotel. Maybe I'll get used to it, but right now it's such a turnoff that I'm questioning continuing. :/

Are you using the keyboard? The game was designed for mouse, which I think is pretty intuitive -- click down and move when you want to change the vantage point, click on an object in the environment to see what you can do with it. The only keys I use are Escape to skip a cutscene or animation, and spacebar to re-orient the camera. They provide some awkward keyboard controls probably to appeal to the FPS crowd at the time, but I would not recommend these.
I was mostly using the keyboard, and found the camera control was really bizarre. I did it that way for the first hour or two of play. But I have discovered that if you use a mouse, it functions like a normal point and click.
What is bizarre about WASD? That it turns rather than strafes, is that it? Also, what is normal for 3D point and click? I'd say normal would still be 2D. Definitely was when this was released.
The game is worth getting used to the control scheme - believe me.

The cameras are not fixed in this game, it is free 3d, a real time engine. Use the mouse to up/down camera, rotate, move left/right, zoom in/out to select the point of view you are interested in the moment and then play it like a traditional point and click adventure to move Gabriel. It is not just aesthetics, some puzzles or objects needs the camera moved or zoomed in to get some objects or inspect something closer.
