briandamage: Collector, you may collect +1 rep for your solution. It worked for me with your instructions and the game is great with subtitles. Thank you so much for this!

Do you still have spoken descriptions of the inventory items with the subtitles patch ?
The patch readme says you'll loose those. Can anyone confirm this ?

That readme is from the original version of the patch and needs to updated. That should be fixed in the current version.

Yeah, i thought the read me could be out dated and that's basically why i asked.
Ok then, i'll follow the tips you posted here and try to get the subtitles to work.
Thanks a bunch for all your GK2 tips ;)

Not much work. I had already done most of the work a while back when I made my GK2 HDD DOSBox installer and the installer for the subtitle patch. In fact, if GOG had started with my installer, they would not needed to hack in the DOS files. Everything would have already been patched and setup to run DOSBox. All they would have needed to have done was to repackage it for GOG.
That worked here. Thank you. Odd that things in the root folder would take precedence over a patches folder. The path is called PATCHdir, you'd think it would assume anything in that path was the best version. Like Bioware games do with their override folder.

This is the way that the SCI patches have always worked. This is on purpose, so that the game would use the new scripts, etc. in the base folder over the flawed ones in the resource file(s) that it was intended to replace. Remember, most of the earlier SCI games had no subdirectories and as such had no patchDir option. This only came in the later games as the size of the games grew.
Here's a little video I recorded after I was done writing down all the text and putting it in the game files, in case you want to see what it looks like -

By the way, I'm sorry about all the German errors... I don't know German at all so I *know* the German subtitles are way off. But the English should be near perfect (I hope).
And a BIG thanks to collector for writing the installer and getting it to work in the DOS version!
EDIT - I'm very glad this subtitle patch is finally useful for someone... I finished the subtitles ages ago but so far I'm not sure if anyone has really used it much :D
So I'm glad my trouble was good for something eventually.

Hi, laffer, Havent seen you around in a while. There is a community play through of GK2 that has just started on Adventure Gamers. Several of the participants are using the subtitle patch. You might be interested in knowing that Kelmer and a member of my forum are redoing the Spanish subtitle patch to fix the errors that we already fixed with the English subtitle patch (inventory bug and missing No-Interlace). Also, someone joined my board because he is trying to do Polish subtitles.
Collector, thanks for the support! I gave gog.com a heads up about the problems in the form of a support request. They've usually been pretty fast to respond, so let's hope they fix the installer.
So, to get subtitles work...
A) Run "GK2Subtitles.exe" -file
B) Follow instructions in Collectors earlier post.

Yes, and if you still have trouble, just ask for more help here.
Thanks for all the help, Collector. I was able to apply the no interlace patch and the full resolution setting according to your directions. It makes a nice difference.

Besides the RESOURCE.CFG file, where is the config file you talk about when you say make changes to sdl, cpu, and autoexec?
