So I've read on TV tropes that GK: The Beast Within is an example for Game-Breaking Bug and Unwinnable / Lost Forever; something about a vital item the lack of which will ruin the game at the end of chapter 4 if you didn't pick it up in chapter 2 or so.

I'm currently in chapter 3 so this gave me quite a shock, but I couldn't find any details on it. Can anyone enlighten me which item they were talking about, so I can check if I already have it or not? Thanks!

I didn't experience any bugs when I played GOG version of GK2.

http://www.sierrahelp.com/Games/GabrielKnight/GK2Help.html lists several serious bugs, but all of those are fixed in a patch and GOG version is already patched.

It doesn't sound like a bug per se, more like an unfair design choice, and you wouldn't have noticed it, if you did anything "right", according to the devs. Seems like you can miss an opportunity to pick up an item and if you do, the game still moves on and you can't go back and make up for that mistake later, and since the item would be required to finish the game, you would fail.

There aren't supposed to be any dead ends in GK2, some earlier Sierra games are full of them, but later games don't have dead ends unless there's a bug. Known dead ends are listed on the link which I posted earlier. But none of those sound like the one which TV tropes describes.

IIRC there wasn't any items which you could pick up and which you didn't need to complete the chapter 2. That was the chapter where Grace explorers castle and village around it, right? However you have to explore the village again later, because later you can pick up some of the stuff you couldn't pick up in the chapter 2.

OlausPetrus: ~snip~
I guess then it's either a misinformation or it was already patched out. All the better, thanks! :)

The business card should be in your inventory, because von Glower gives it to Gabriel in Chapter 1.
