GK2 - Beast Within:

I really hope this is not a game-breaking bug, but I'm stuck at the end of chapter 3. After some confusion as to what to do, I consulted a walkthrough.

SPOILERS AHEAD:


According to the walkthrough, I'm supposed to put my tape recorder in the magazine I picked up from the table where the two club members are talking, then put it back in front of them so I can tape their conversation. That makes sense, but I've so far been unable to get the tape recorder inside the magazine. Apparently, I'm supposed to be able to combine the two by clicking on the magazine, then on the tape recorder.

But, the tape recorder does not show up in my long, rectangular inventory box where my notebook, letters, books, car keys and other items are. I've only accessed the tape recorder previously by clicking on the cassette tape icon in the bottom-right box (separate from the inventory), below the magnifying glass icon. When I click on the magazine in inventory, then click on the cassette tape, nothing happens. When I click on the cassette tape first, it takes me to the grid of available cassette tapes so I'm unable to then click on the magazine.

Could someone please let me know if I'm doing something wrong, or if this might be a horribly evil, game-breaking bug?

It's been a while since I played that game. But as far as I remember, the tape recorder should be inside the inventory.
Have you scrolled through your inventory by clicking on the up/down arrows on the left? Maybe it's just out of sight.

Ha! I knew it was something simple and stupid that I was missing!

I tried many times to scroll up/down in my inventory by clicking on the up/down arrows, but no matter how many times I clicked, it would only move a tiny fraction of an inch on the first click, then not move anymore no matter how many times I clicked afterwards. This led me to believe there were no more items in my inventory.

But, just now I tried clicking AND HOLDING DOWN the mouse button, and my inventory scrolled to reveal another 1 1/2 rows of items in my inventory, including the elusive tape recorder!

Thank you VERY MUCH, ClusterRat! Now, I'm able to continue! :)
