I'm stuck in GK 2. I know what to do next... but the game won't let me continue.
In chapter 6, Grace is all dressed up and in the spotlight room. I know Von Glower and KK Lieber are sitting in their seats. GRACE has to look at them through the window with the opera glasses. I look... and when the cutscene is over, the game screen (but not inventory portion) goes black. The whole game is frozen. I've tried starting from various save games and getting to that point of the game again... but it refuses to go any further. I just want to beat the game already. This is annoying. Any fixes?
If I uninstall and REinstall, can I keep my save games? Help!

Yes. When you run the unistaller it asks you if you want to keep your saved games.
As for the issue itself i can't figure out what could be triggering that. Maybe unistalling and reinstalling will fix it. If you're on Vista/Win 7 after unistalling run the installer as admin and once installed run the game as admin aswell.

I'm just at a loss for what is wrong. I've deleted all the files except for my saved games. I redownloaded and reinstalled the game. I started over from the beginning of chapter 6. Got to the part where the game freezes... and it did it again. I really don't want to replay the entire game just to beat it. I'm about to give up on even trying. This stinks. Anyone have a diff. saved game from almost the same point they're willing to share with me?

You are an absolute life-saver. I had exactly the same problem and was really worried I wasn't going to be able to finish the game, which I've loved so far. Just checked the save you provided and it works fine. THANK YOU!

I'm affraid i don't have an explanation for it. Maybe there's something in common to your systems that could explain the issue ? I honestly don't know.

Ah yes, so I am not alone. My game crashed there many times, but then I got through it some how by clicking furiously. Then it crashed again when it's supposed to transition to Act 2.
But that's because I had the subtitles patch installed. I uninstalled and used this saved game and it works, thanks a lot! It saved me from more frustration.

Thank you! I had a similar proble where the cutscene of Grace moving Gabriel to the basement wouldn't start even though I had done everything there was to do and thanks to your save file I am just a little ahead. Thank you!

Hi! I had this problem several years ago. My problem turned out that I had the volume turned down IN-GAME rather than just muting my PC. Once I changed my in-game settings, it fixed the issue. I don't know if this will help you, since that was a couple years ago, and I'm now struggling to fix the subtitle problems with the new Scuum, so it may not work. Don't get on forums much, so a wee bit late to the party, sorry. But actually, no, this is the correct post. I kept crashing at the opera cutscene/couldn't get past it. Several play-throughs & getting hung up in the same place, trying to load other's save files, etc, and this resolved the issue for me (even contacted customer support, athough they weren't the most helpful; don't ask me HOW I figured it out, if this is actually the solution for others). Oddly enough, when I changed my audio settings, it actually played through correctly. Tested it a few times, IIRC, and am getting ready to play again. It worked for me, hope it works for others. I played on Win10 & generally prefer subtitles to spoken word, and have a tendency to keep my pc on mute. Muting in-game rather than externally on my PC caused me problems with this particular scene for some reason -\_( '_' )_/-

csellers79, thank you so much for the spot on reply! I can confirm that this is still a problem in 2021. I was getting quite annoyed that I was going to have to go through some long rig-a-marole of uninstalling, reinstalling, or uploading someone else's game when I read your reply. I also had the in-game "music" volume turned all the way down. I put it up just a little, and I was immediately able to continue past the part where Grace uses the opera glasses to confirm Glower is in the audience. If anybody else is having this issue, TURN UP THE VOLUME!
