Hey there fellow GOG users,

I'm posting this because I'm having this weird issue with this game only on DosBox. Whenver I try and open the game, after the Sierra splash screen, Dosbox errors out and crashes. This is weird because none of the other Dosbox games I have installed to this.

I have also tried reinstalling the game, but to no avail. Issue is still here.

Has anyone come across this? Or knows a possible cause so I can fix it?

Thanks in advance,

K.
So, what is the error DOSBox is crashing with?

You are running it with the GOG shortcut, right?

I realize this is an old topic, but I've run into the same issue - same operating system. I've tried running from the shortcut, from inside the folder, and from the "startgame" button after configuring the game settings.

Do you know if its DOSBox crashing, or the game crashing within DOSBox? Try updating the dosbox conf that GOG uses for the game to not clear screen / echo off or exit after the game. That way you should be able to see any errors, unless it's actually DOSBox itself that's crashing.

All I know is that the Sierra logo came up, and then a box telling me DosBox had crashed popped up. I sort of found a way around it by accident, but I'm now stuck playing in a windowed version of the original resolution in teeny-tiny mode. It's better than nothing though. I went into the configuring screen and played around there. Whatever I did (still no clue - may have been changing "overlay" to "Direct3D") made the game finally run. Nothing I do will make it run in a larger screen size though. At this point I'm just happy it's finally going.

Have you tried output=openglnb, scaler=none, windowed or fullscreen resolution set to something large?

Yup. It's a no go. I think I'd probably have to do a re install to fix the size issue. King of Dragon Pass did the same thing last time I installed it where it was the original resolution and the rest of my screen was blacked out (no windowed mode) and I was only able to fix it with a re-install. I think that I'll leave it for now though since I at least have GK1 not-crashing anymore. I'd hate to reinstall it and have to deal with constant crashes again. I mean it's playable in original resolution, it's just small.
