I was wondering how do you think would a Gabriel Knight 2 remake work out?

In my opinion I think Gabriel Knight 3 is very suitable for a remake (so at least they can remove the cat puzzle! :P ) but I'm not sure about Gabriel Knight 2. What do you think?
Jane Jansen didn't seem very enthusiastic when she was asked about GK2/3 remakes during an interview ;)

For me, GK2 is (and always will be) great like that. It would be very difficult to replace FMV by 3D. GK2 was quite slow and very talkative, the scenario and the dialogues were very well suited to FMV. I don't think it would be a good idea to transform all that into a 3D game without making major changes.
For GK3, I don't know. It could make sense, but I still love the original design :D

And above all, I hope that Jane Jansen will release GK4 one day. Now, every day spent on remakes gives us less chances to see a new episode, I think.
I think it been said that if the remake of the first GK would be a commercial success it would probably lead to GK4.

Exactly. And many times. :D

Although the answer might scare me (because I so want GK4 to become a reality), I'm now really curious if this goal was reached. It might be too early to call, but games do sell the most units when they are new and they should have an indication by now.
I'm holding on hope that this remake leads to GK4.
Have you read new Gabriel Knight short story? And Moebius short story? Can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/janejensenhomes

Cool! Just got a used copy of the first Gabriel Knight book off of Amazon so that will read well with it!

Also I think that ya 2 and 3 aren't well suited for remakes, kinda like how the remakes for Monkey Island and Broken Sword stopped after the second games.......they aren't really needed.

GK4 is much more exciting to think about, personally Ms. Jensen needs to drop Moebius and concentrate on Gabriel Knight
Personally I would much rather have GK4 than GK2 and 3 remakes. I would also like to see a sequel to Gray Matter, because while it wasn't as great as Gabriel Knight -trilogy, it was a solid adventure and liked it's characters much more than I like characters of Moebius.

Same here. I want a new game. GK4 would be a better use of their time and talent.

It's been years since I played Gray Matter, but the way I remember it, it wasn't finished, or I didn't understand the ending at all. So yeah, a continuation to that would be welcome, although I prefer a GK4 - if I had to/could choose.
I would like a slightly enhanced version of GK3 - updated textures, models and fixings for some of the problems newer hardware has with the game. Could be a way to gather money for a possible GK4 , like the Outcast-developers do right at the moment with Outcast 1.1.
One of the developer's notes in 20th Anniversary edition, she specifically states she won't make a remake of GK2 and 3, and plans to do GK4 next.

That's a great idea! I would pass on a GK3 remake with any alterations made to the actual game. It's one of my top three favorite games and I love it exactly as it is, flaws and all.
I haven't played GK3 since a year or so after it was released (Even though I snapped it up here almost straight away), but as I remember it, I certainly wouldn't mind if they just upgraded the character models. As I remember they were pretty awful.

To be honest, the time and money spent on the GK1 remake would have been better spent on GK4 in my opinion.

I didn't really get much out of the remake. I mean... I just didn't see the point of it. Yes the updated textures and music were nice, but some things really baffled me. Like they used new voice actors but as far as I could tell the script was word for word the same as the original. Even to the point where Grace tells Gabriel to "get down" even though in this version he doesn't climb up the ladder in the shop! Ridiculous. There were even some lines that didn't sound right to me without Tim Curry's take on the accent.

If you're going to re-record the script you could at least make some improvements on the original. Unless, you think it doesn't need improving, in which case why remake it at all? Just for the sake of better graphics? Or was the idea to open up GK to the new generation who never played the originals?

The original holds a certain charm for me, so should I decide to play the first story again I don't think I'll replay the remake... I'll go back to the original.
Alburi I agree with most everything you said.

I have quite a few criticisms for the remake. One being the reduce amount of peripheral animation going on. Random characters stripped from the game, etc. New Orleans seemed more lively in the original.
