As the title says, I was wondering if anyone has played (even finished) GK3 on Win 8.1?
The store page doesn't say it's compatible with Win 8.1, but Win 7 is listed so I'm wondering if it does work on a modern OS.

Hi! Windows 8 is not mentioned for a reason. Game crashes just after hitting the Play button in the main menu on this OS. On Windows 7 works like a charm. Hopefully Windows 10 is going to be a better platform for GK3.

A shame, but thanks for the reply. Hopefully this will be resolved in some way in the future.

Yea, it's kind of irritating that it won't run. I bought GK3 just a few weeks before my computer died, and I bought a replacement which came with Win 8, and have never gotten a chance to finish the game :(
I don't have it installed it here right now, but you did you try opening the executable properties and setting it to run in Compatibility Mode for Win7?

I'll try it later when I get back home and let you guys know.
Works on my Win 8.1 comp....and not in compatibility mode. Seems a bit slow, but that could be I am now used to faster movement.
I was having some crash problems, but switching to software rendering fixed that, if you are having that sort of issue.
Bit gutted. Been meaning to play through the last 2 GK games for years and finished GK2 last night.

Eagerly looking forward to starting GK3 tonight but the opening sequence was all botched on my Windows 8 laptop and the game crashed in the very first room.

Will try some of the fixes mentioned on here and report back.

Just re-ran it in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

Right Click on Shortcut Icon.

Properties.

Run this in Compatibilty mode for Windows 7.
