Just wondering - has anyone experienced sound issues with the Gabriel Knight 3 cutscenes (the bink/smacker videos) - specifically, audio dropouts?

No sound issues with the game otherwise - and when viewed via RAD video tools the videos are fine - just something going on with them during the game.

Thanks

I haven't played this GOG version extesively, but at least the intro video runs perfectly fine in my experience.
Have you tried messing with the in-game video settings? I doubt it would help but can't hurt to try.

Also, could you share some info on your system specs like OS, or if you're using a particular sound card, etc.?

yep took a look at the settings, but there isn't really much to play around with in GK 3 so no good there. Running Win XP, intel core 2 duo 2.80 ghz, nvidia geforce 8400 gs 512mb, VIA hd audio (not much info on this when I run dxdiag.exe)

Bigger problem now, is a recurring fatal exception error during the day 3/6pm end video (Emilio's story) Have to skip it to proceed.
Hey I have read some other similar posts and it sounds like it might be related to the codec package already present in your PC.
This would explain why you only have trouble while watching videos, as the video refers to your codecs when playing.

I don't know much about these subjects but here are a few threads that talk about it, including a few solutions:
