I havent played FTL in years, but a new mod called "Multiverse" popped up on my youtube feed and looks great. I looked up how to install it, and I'm pretty sure I'm doing everything right. But after trying all day, the closest I've come is the multiverse loading screen - it almost finishes loading, the ftl music starts, and it never starts.

The steps I'm following:
1. Rollback version to 1.6.9
2. get newest version of Hyperspace (0.7.1), move files in the explicitly named folder to FTL dir, run downgrade.bat
3. Get newest version of Slipstream(1.9.1), move Hyperspace.ftl into mod folder, change pref to accept zip files
4. Get newest version of Multiverse(4.10.3), move that zip into slipstream mods folder, change it to .ftl file

Pretty sure the problem is Hyperspace. When I run the Downgrade.bat, theres a line in there that reads "this mod is not intended for this rom".

I tried many times with 1.6.9, thinking maybe Galaxy was changing it somehow. It isn't, auto update is off.

I know the best place for this would be at the subsetgames boards, but I only have an account here and this place has always been great for things like this. This Multiverse mod seems like a big thing in the FTL world so I'm hoping someone here has ran into this and figured out the solution.

It might just be that the newest version of Hyperspace is glitchy, and in that case if someone can post versions of Hyperspace and Multiverse that theyve played Ill just try the slightly older versions.

Thanks

So, have you considered that maybe these mods are simply conflicting?
No, "Hyperspace" is a mod that is required for the "Multiverse" mod.

There is a similar report on subsetgames dedicated topic, try the fix suggestion below by the mod's author.

Their README is very poor, because the entire FTL modding community is a bunch of amateurs still using Google Drive and Dropbox as their distribution method and unable to automate anything. But it does mention this in their installation. You missed it. Anyway, the downgrade.bat is for the latest Steam release only. For GOG, there's a built-in way to install 1.6.9: open the game page in GOG Galaxy, click Manage Installation, and you can select an older version.

Full instructions:

1. In GOG Galaxy, downgrade FTL to 1.6.9 in Manage Installation
2. Download Hyperspace from https://subsetgames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35095 , extract it, and copy what's inside the “Copy to where ftlgame.exe is” to FTL's root folder
3. Download and extract Slipstream
4. Download and install Java 1.8 if you can't open modman.exe , from http://www.java.com/en/download/
6. Drag Multiverse***.zip to Slipstream's mods folder
8. Open Slipstream for the 1st time. You have to select ftl.dat in your FTL installation folder. The filename they give you is wrong, it has to be ftl.dat.
9. In Slipstream, open File > Prefs > Allow Zip. Restart Slipstream.
10. Check Multiverse and click Patch. When it finishes, you can run the game
11. If the game crashes with "Mingw Assertion Error" when the loading bar reaches E, then open the file manager, navigate to FTL's folder, right-click FTLGame.exe, Create Shortcut, right-click the shortcut, click Properties, and change the Target from "...whateverPath/FTLGame.exe" to: "...whateverPath/FTLGame.exe" -directx
(So you're adding -directx after the final quotes). Launch the game via this shortcut instead of FTLGame.exe.

I am having problems with this mod myself. The downgrade app is for steam users only. I would like to know if any GoG users have actually gotten this mod to work. There seems to be an issue with the xinput1_4.dll file. If you remove the file the mod will launch but will not actually work and game will crash when you click to actual start a game.. With the file in I get an error of "Failed to find address for function AchievementTracker::GetShipAchievements". I am running version 1.6.9 have even tried 1.6.8 neither work.
