high rated
Seriously this team deserves every praise they get.
I am glad I bought their game.
Do I have to reinstall the whole game? Why is there no patch to download, only the whole thing? I gladly managed to get to the 4th sector, I`m not sure if I`ll keep my current state of game if I de- and reinstall it!
Just install over the old game (don't uninstall). You'll keep your saved game. They do this because this is how the development team handles updates.
Thanx, I was shivering in fear!

Your save is in (windows): my documents/my games/fasterthanlight
@Zoidberg:
Thanx, but I already installed the new version, it didn`t harm my savegame!
Or, to sum it up,:
"God shave the queen!. Too late, I`ve done it yesterday!" :-)
That's Support maaan! :)
This caught my eye:
- Reverse Ion Field augment will now sometimes block Pulsar Star ion bursts

So in other words, prior to that it DIDN'T block pulsar star ion bursts?!? I'm now SO glad I didn't go out of my way to get those reverse ion field augments, though I did buy them occasionally, expecting them to help (never got to test it though since every single time I bought that augment I'd never find another pulsar!).

Just guessing from my gameplay, but maybe the field was also supposed to block the large shots thrown at you by capital ships when the rebels fleet manages to caught up with you?

I'm pretty sure those aren't ion weapons. They're just nasty shots fired by either capital ships or planetary batteries - they take a while to charge/lock on, but when they fire they're devastating. They can do a ton of hull damage, and IIRC also cause breaches and fires.

I think they can also penetrate shields, but even if they didn't they'd still be nasty.

So I don't think something capable of blocking ion weapons would do anything against these.

Yes. AFAICT, they pierce all shields, cause 3 hull damage and always breaches. I don't think they cause fires, but it wouldn't matter if they did since they breach. You want full engines to try and evade.

Yeah makes sense - now that I think of it, I remember every time they hit I'd hear the tell-tale breach sound effect. Though to be honest most of the time, if I got to the point that those things hit me, I'd be busy trying to GTFO of there to pay much attention to what they did.

I do remember having to fight lots of fires - often after jumping to safety - but that could have easily been from other weaponry.

I agree with the full engines, though cloak should also work. Even better, ensure you GTFO before they strike!

They can be fun when they're on your side though - as long as you're not boarding the enemy at the time of course...

Yes, definitely cloak if you have it. By full engines I meant fully energize your engines at whatever level you have them. Which gives you a bit more evasion and more importantly charges the jump drive faster. The main thing is to GTFO, but that's hard to do before they strike; particularly if you misjudged going for that one extra jump in the first sector.

Because, I haven't blown up my own crew enough times...
