Allegiance. I used to play it... it is similar, but its not really MMO, it's a team vs team strategic game, but not persistant between the different sessions. It's got one person as the commander building tech/stations and handing out ships while everyone else plays as fighters/bombers and tries to blow the other guy up

The story and the way its played out, is a good enough reason to buy FS 1 & 2.
All the new games makes me sad. The story telling gets zero time. Its always something like:
Mission backstory
Im so sad
Mission
Kill person a because im so sad, but I have good GFX....
Oh ffs I need games with a story lol.. Anyways, Nexus - The Jupiter Incident also has a very nice story.
Any other games with good story telling and nice gameplay?

Any new games with good story telling and nice gameplay............??
How about Mass Effect !!........................if it wasnt for the constant bugs/crashes/freezes/resets, then this game would go down in history as the best it can get.
I only hope to god they (Bioware and EA) get their coders some decent computers with varied setups to work on, or no-one is going to buy the sequel.
Back to the plot, just downloaded Freespace 1, so i'll be busy over xmas :))

Freelancer has a pretty decent story. I mean it's not like the Illiad or anything but it's better than most games that we get nowadays. Plus, the gameplay is soooooo smooth in that game.

1. Install FS2
2. Download and run the FSOpeninstaller from http://www.fsoinstaller.com/files/installer/java/FreeSpaceOpenInstaller.jar
3. Let it install "The works"
4. Wait a bit while it does its magic
5. Get the patch for the mediavps from this thread: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=65038.msg1288578#msg1288578
6. Start the Launcher installed by the installer, set the graphics up the way you want them, and select "FSPort" (Or better yet, "FSPort mediavps") as a mod.
7. Enjoy.
Questions or problems should be reported at HLP.

Got it on Steam already. Still, I'd like to see it added to the Gog.com list. There's quite a few people out there that's missed out on that particular classic.
