I know it's an old game but it's a classic.
In my oppinion the Thrustmaster t.16000m is the best bang for your buck.
You don't need the HOTAS version, just the stick.

If you're planning to use FSO it might be better to not use a joystick at all since the mod seems to be optimized for mousecontrol and is rather difficult with a joystick.

Not my experience, never touched the mouse in-flight in FSO.

You might be right.
I had trouble with Wing Commander Saga, which is an FSO mod, or maybe it's just me. ;)

Same deal with Wing Commander Saga.
Though I only played the standalone version not the mod version.

Any joystick with force feedback. Freespace was made to be played with that!
