(Should be FS2 Mission 15, sorry, can't edit post title.)
Ok, I'm posting this because the spouse can't from work. I don't play FS2 myself so bear with me if I'm not as clear as I should be.
In Mission 15 in my husband's game, one of the wingmen apparently goes out beyond the specified 3,000-klick radius and sits there. He can't seem to get this pilot recalled ("Form on my wing" doesn't work here apparently) and she promptly gets killed. Is this pilot supposed to be doing this? The walkthrough he's consulted doesn't mention it.

I just "finished" this one too (I didn't get it all right, so I have to redo it). It's a nasty one... I think you're talking about Alpha 2, yeah that's probably going to happen no matter what. Check out this very funny walkthrough: http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/Freespace2/Update%2015/index.html
He talks about a secret tip, which is basically the whole point to doing the mission, so it's not secret at all. I wish there was a trick to it...
