I have installed Freespace 1 on my Vista computer. When I try to run it the intro cinematic runs perfectly but then the welcome screen is just black with a few nearly illegible words. If I move my mouse around it makes sounds as if there should be buttons where the black area is. If I go into any other menu the old letters stay there and the new letters start appearing on top of them making everything impossible to read. I attached a screenshot of the welcome screen. Thanks for any help you can provide; I didn't find a fix in the FAQ for this problem.

edit: Oops, this was supposed to be a new topic. Is there any way to move it? My bad.

I can confirm that this fixes my problems running Freespace 1 on my Geforce 6600. The asteroid mission was totally unplayable before. Also while I was in there I noticed there was a registry key to enable force feedback which was nice as I couldn't find that option in the game.
