nogwart: Thanks for the reply crazy_dave!

But, I've just tried to use the numpad as you suggested, and it is so completely ridiculous and impractical for real use, I can't consider it as a serious option. Please don't take that as any insult as I know you said you hadn't used that method.

I'd still VERY MUCH like to hear from anyone who has actually used K+M to play Freespace 2. I'm pretty much giving up on it now, which is INCREDIBLY annoying considering the high praise this game has received. Trying to target enemies with the mouse is just silly with the necessity of moving the mouse off of the pad as I've described. There's no way that this is the way anyone has played and finished the game.

Anyone??? Suggestions??? Please???

nogwart: I can imagine that using a joystick to play this game would eliminate this problem, but I've never owned a joystick, and I think it would be beyond silly to buy one just to be able to play one game.

crazy_dave: Well I do have an alternative solution to your problem. Buy more flight and space sims ... that way you can justify the purchase of a joystick! :P

Unfortunately I can't really give any tips on the K&M method. However, some forumers extol it's virtues, so maybe it takes some getting used to and then it works really well? I dunno - I probably should let one of those who use it answer. :)
Haha! Thanks again crazy_dave!

Yep, that solution has tempted me many times, especially since I do already own many space games. Some I do really like, but those are the ones that are easily played with K+M.

By the way, I did FINALLY find a "kinda-sorta" solution, at least for now. I maxed out the mouse sensitivity, and now the "pick-up-mouse, move-mouse, put-down-mouse" problem is not nearly as much trouble. I've gotten through a few missions this way, and it's looking like it will work.

So, ....YAY, and stuff!

Thanks for the suggestions!
