I'm looking for a good flight stick. I remember the old Sidewinders being awesome but they don't get made anymore.
Can anyone recommend something similar?

I have a couple of old sticks I will gladly get rid of.
Logitech Wingman Force
Gravis - Eliminator Precision Pro
I got the pictures offline.

cogadh: I've been using a Logitech WingMan Extreme Digital 3D for years (about 10) and it has always served me well. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure they aren't available anymore.
EDIT - After poking around the Logitech site, it appears that the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is essentially the same thing as my old WingMan Extreme Digital 3D. The design is a bit updated, but all the same functions are there.

I bought one of these about a year ago for $15 at a small computer store. I am satisified. It has faced the worst that the X-Wing series could throw at and is currently looking for more.
How about Saitek Cyborg Evo? :)

I just got an Extreme 3D Pro and I couldn't be happier with it. Very solid construction, plenty of functionality... its a worthy replacement for the old WingMan Extreme Digital 3D. If you're looking for an inexpensive "all-in-one" kind of joystick, its well worth getting.
I have a Precision Pro 1, but I've heard good things about these sticks (all HOTAS)
Saitek X52 Pro
Thrustmaster Cougar
CH Fighter stick and throttle (their sold separately)
Personally, I'd go with the 52, as it's much more capable than anything else, but if you want a full metal one, then go for the CH or Thrustmaster.
If you do get a 52 though, be absolutely sure it's a pro, not a standard. Standard ones are silver, pros are black. The pro is made from milspec material, and I have had buddies break the standards quickly but have the pros last a LONG time.
Note that any of these options are likely to cost around 200, but they are full HOTAS, meaning they are probably the best bet for someone (provided you aren't a lefty, if you are you may need a while to get used to it)
Sorry for not replying. I forgot all about this topic.
I did see that Saitek will be releasing a new stick shortly, and it looks like it might be decent. Failling that, one of Saitek's other sticks, the X52 pro or the Cyborg, look quite nice.
Thanks guys.

There is I'm afraid no alternative.
No I'm suffering with a Logitec Attack
about the Sidewinder 3D Pro.
Due to its little circle of movement and precision it was excellent for racing.
Every time I got seduced by some high tech joystick to check if it would enhance my performance I got disapointed..
Luckily I have still 2 Sidewinders 3D Pro (one bought from a hardware hungry friend that "upgraded", hihi) left at home.
It was my first joystick that didn't break like the old Gravis ones, even not after the whole wing commander series up to IV, Strike Commander, Tie fighter, Privateer I and II getting the Benelux 2nd place of Pod online contest, The need for speed I for 2 years, Toca series, even Duke 3D single player I have fully finished with this joystick,
This piece of trusted hardware does the mileage.
Respect to M$ 's hardware manufacturer at that time.
It's a pity that it is not yet USB capable.
BUT there seems to be hope laying in initiatives as the one bellow example shows
http://grendel.koolbear.com/3dpro.htm
I'm curious if anybody got Sidewinders game port edition to work in a modern gaming system Vista (32 / 64)
Greetings,

Depends on how much $$$ you want to spend. If your like me and your cheap. The Saitek ST290 is pretty decent for what i paid $25. But it's a no frills joystick.
6 buttons, 8 direction hat, throttle control and twist. No Force Feedback.
I have the Saitek X52 and throttle and its sweet.

I am sure you can still get sidewinders but they connected via usb and don't have the twist grip rudder setting. The sidewinder's I have (both) have been worth hangin on to, you are
right they are great.
