Okay - for those of you with that issue of 'insta-crashing', I have a few steps to try. Of course, the first suggestion is always 'run as administrator'. However, when it's installed - Windows 10 will let you know that it needs admin approval to run the GOG executable.

But right click your shortcut for now. In the location bar - add the function -w, which will tell the program to open in a window. This should resolve the crashing issue for now. If it does, we've realized what the problem is; it's V-Sync. Which this program hates with a passion. So, you'll have to disable V-Sync to have Freedom Force run properly.

(This is the same for Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II)

Freedom Force Vs. The Third Reich supports V-Sync.

Now for the problem I'm having.

When playing - for some reason, clicking on Helper Tags won't bring up the Narration - Clicking on surrendering villains won't bring up their cutscenes - and this narrator issue continues on the Debriefing Screen, because it requires the Narration to walk you through the steps to go to the next mission - and it won't go.

Any solutions for this problem yet?

I was going nuts. Every time I beat Red Oktober, the game crashed out. This has sorted it. Thank you!
Having the same problem with the instacrash, but the " -w " solution also worked for me here, thanks a lot!

I had the problem with narration as well and it seemed to go away after I tried different windows compatibility options. I think mine is set for Windows XP svc pack 2 right now and I am getting full narration.

Sorry for the late reply, I only just bought the game. My game crashes whenever I try to open it, so I went here to try to fix it. Problem is, I don't understand computers. I tried doing what you said, but I'm completely lost. Can you try dumbing it down for me? On your second paragraph, the only part I understood was right clicking the shortcut, everything else was complete gibberish to me. After right clicking, whats the location bar? I didn't see it unless it's "open file location." What's a function, and how do I add one?

Sorry for the extra work, I really don't understand. I just bought the game trusting it would work. I don't know anything about coding

I think he's talking about adding that -w bit to the end of the Target.

Right-click the shortcut and select Properties. There will be some tabs at the very top, then some text, and then the first box where you can enter info should be the Target box. Click anywhere in that box and you'll see the blinking cursor, just like when typing text most anywhere else. You can then use the arrow keys to scroll all the way to the right. Press spacebar to give you a space, then type -w in that box. That's it. Click the OK button at the bottom. That will accept the change and close the Properties window.

Now try opening that shortcut to run the game and see if that eliminated the crashing.

For what it's worth, these little add-ons or modifications to the Target are often called something like "command line switch", since you're switching a feature on or off. In this case, by adding -w to the end you're telling the game to run in a window.

I think I got all that correct. : ) Give it a shot.
