I rememebr that when I bought my physical copy it game with a bonus DVD with several behind the scenes making of videos... and some bonus charaters.
From memory they included 70's versions of Eve, Bullet, el Diablo and others, does the GoG version include them?
This question / problem has been solved by LordCinnamonimage
Nope, they're not in the extras, and they are not included in the installer (at least, I checked every folder where they could be hidden, didn't find them, nor do they show up during character creation).
Sounds like a fun little bonus :)
edit: and no making of videos either, by the way.

I have yet to verify the Following - But I will post it here for someone else to research.
*** This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup
copy of the file before proceeding. Certain game retailers are
releasing a bonus Freedom Force disc. This disc will give you more
powers as well as 3 new recruitable built in characters for
campaign mode. They are Blackbird, Iron Ox, and Supercollider. Use
the following steps to unlock them without the bonus disc. Use a
text editor to edit the "init.py" file in the game folder. Add the
following lines to the file:
import ff
ff.CON_ENABLE=1
APP_ENABLE_XTRACHARS = 1
Now I know that Blackbird, Iron Ox, and Supercollider come with gogs version of the game. I just do not remember if they are available during the campain. I do however know that the init.py file is included with GoG's version, but does not contain the above lines. Notepad can be used to edit the init.py file.

The instructions say to add those lines, so where you've said the GOG version doesn't have those lines, that sounds normal as you need to add them. Try it and let us know. (I'd do so myself but I don't own the game yet).
Yes I own the GoG version and have played it about half way through. I however got deverted to playing Divine Divinity 2 - So any further testing of the above solution or posting of guides for freedom force vs the 3rd Reich will be put on Hold. I posted the above so that those who have purchased the game ( And Own it) could try it themselves.
Just as a side note - I have already posted a guide to installing skins and in the future you will see one posted for installing extra character voices.
The above solution is for the first game, and is obsolete anyways, since the latest patches for that game unlocked the bonus characters by default.
The bonus characters for this game were, i am pretty sure, separate installs, and not hidden in the main game. No amount of file editing can possibly unlock them.
Since I asked my question I spent a couple of hours digging out my physical copy of the game and can answer my own question (though still much thanks to Lord Cinnamon for answering about the GoG version).
The bonus characters were 70's versions of Eve, Bullet and el Diablo (no more than that) and were installed via an EXE packaged on a bonus DVD that came with the game. As catwhowalks says file editing will not help.

Thanks for clearly my Blunder Up ! :)
There's also a 70's version of The Ant as well, which was included in preorders from certain places instead of the other 3.
There's actually some talk going at at the Freedom Reborn and Irrational Games forums about getting those 4 made available for download somewhere.
EDIT: and one of the Freedom Reborn members found it.
Get them here.

Very nice and helps solve a problem I was wondering about while this game is downloading. I still have my original CD for this game, but I never really got to play it back when it came out.....so now I am going to play and it is going to be very nice to use some of the bonus content I had from back in the day with this re-purchase

They're available, I used Blackbird and Supercollider quite a bit in the campaign.
Once again, Blackbird and Supercollider are bonus characters in the first game, which is not available here. The game available on GOG is the second game, which included them by default. The bonus characters for this game were the 70's versions of several characters.
