Hello, all.

I recently opened a GOG account just to get a standalone version of this game since the old 2001 Sony VAIO cannot really handle the Steam app. Needless to say, the game works nicely and of course it's the Windows version (the Sony is XP SP3).

But that antique is also a Dual Operating System device; it can also run as a Puppy Linux 5.2.5 Lucid computer (not emulation). I am curious about trying the Linux version of this game since using WINE does not work.

However, every time I try to get the Linux version I'm told I already have the game and apparently cannot gift it to myself. How does one force a Linux purchase from a Windows device?

Thanks.

Hello. With the purchase of any game on GOG, you receive every version that's available. As far as i can see though, Astrox doesn't have a Linux version for now.

EDIT: My bad, i thought i was replying to a thread about Astrox. The first part of my post still applies. Disregard the second part; FoxTail does have a Linux version.

As Vythonaut stated, after you purchase the game you already own all the versions available.

To download the Linux version:
1) Do *not* use Gog Galaxy client, it does not support Linux and you may not be able to download the Linux version using Galaxy (I cannot confirm or deny this because I don't use Galaxy). For my instructions, use the gog website with a web browser instead.

2) Hover the mouse cursor over your username in the top bar on the gog webpage, then select "games" from the drop down menu. Alternately, just click this link:
https://www.gog.com/account
(You must be logged into the GOG website, if you are not already)

3) Scroll down until you see the game "Foxtail" and click on it, a pop-up window will appear.

4) In the upper-left of the pop-up window you will see the words "System", click on the system-name (most likely it currently says "Windows" for you) and change it to "Linux".

5) Click on the name of the game down under the words "DOWNLOAD GAME INSTALLERS", and it will download the Linux game installer.

Have it- thanks so much!

After installing "GLIBC 2.27" the Linux version does work on Puppy Linux 5.7.0 Precise and 6.0.5 Tahrpup confirmed. Since GLIBC 2.27 does not install on 5.2.5 Lucid it does not work on that one. Apparently you need a distro with a kernel of at least 3.2 (which 5.7.0 does have; Lucid has 2.6).

You can download non-Windows versions through Galaxy too. (Game)->More->Backsups & Goodies. There's a pulldown menu to change OS there, and you can then download the relevant installer(s).
