Installed GOG version downloaded in 2022.
PC is windows 7
Video card is nvidia GT530
Monitor is a cheap $100 27" (i think) with native 1920x1024 60hz

The game installs and runs fine on full settings. It should, the game is from 2004 after all. BUT I cannot seem to make it run in the proper 4:3 ratio. It is basically in stretch mode, whether I select 640x480 , 1920x1080, or anything in between.

The videos were tearing a bit so I used nvidia control panel to force vsync on the .exe. And that worked, so that is nice.

But all videos, menus, and in game play render as wide stretched, which is not nice. I can't find any other option to force 4:3 and get the proper black bars on each side. Making me wish I still had my trinitron from 1998.

I thought that half drow butt was way too chunky. After I found some screenshots from way back when, probably console, I can see how it is supposed to look.

I did find a way to do this finally. My 27" flat panel actually has a hardware mode right on the monitor to change aspect ratio. Options are 16:9, 4:3, 5:4. I never knew this - haven't needed to play with monitor buttons in many years.

So, with it set to 4:3, it puts the proper black bars right on the desktop. Then, starting demonstone.exe and choosing a 4:3 res (1024x768) in the launcher will play the game in a proper resolution.

I just left the desktop resolution at 1920x1080. All there, but squeezed. After changing the monitor back to 16:9, it all goes back as it was. So, easy enough to swap for this game in particular.

This monitor is a Dell, with windows calling it SE2717H/HX. It has 5 tiny buttons on the bottom right, underneath, that I was able to manipulate the settings with.

Thought I would pass it along. It's really not that bad a game, just... sort of lazy/cheezy. Clearly a console port.
