I entered the Mausoleoum and those soldiers are draining my party. I used Negative Plane Protection and it wears off in seconds! What im doing worng or is this a bug?

Not sure about later DnD editions, but in DnD 2e Negative Plane Protection basically protects you against one hit. Once some draining creature touches you, the spell protection is gone and you'll have to recast it.
This is excruciatingly annoying, so I never use the spell in these old DnD games, with the exception of
Ravenloft: Strahd's Possession, since that game pretty much forces you to (several level-draining monsters to deal with and you can't get drained levels back).

Wow i didn't remember this being such an issue. Guess the only way then its using spells to prevent them from reaching the party.
That, and dodging enemy attacks by moving backwards and strafing.
Do they have a 100% chance of level draining you if they hit, or is it just a chance?
If the cluebook is to be believed it's not a 100% chance.

Thankfully, I think only the wights in Warrior's Tomb level 2 level drain you, so once you're past that level at least that part of the nightmare will be over. (The game still sucks though, so there's that.)
They're easy to kill. Just be sure to save often and check if you've been drained before saving.
