I just tried entering the Mausoleum right away, since I didn't find any items in the forest and I found it, and noticed Paladin's and Fighter/Thief's weapons don't damage the swordwraiths (the knights) in it, and I can only defeat them using the Wizard's spells.

Is that on purpose, or are you supposed to just search the forest until you find better weapons?

And/or if you import, you are expected to have +2 weapons that can damage them?

EotB3 is a big pain in the backside on many levels. Personally, I don't recommend starting a new party in this game, but play through the first two games and import your party into the third game, so you can start out with +3/+4/+5 weapons.
You keep all the weapons and armour after importing. Just make sure you hold on to them as you go through the first two games.

As far as I can remember there are some +2 weapons lying around in the forest. You'll have to cut through trees to reach a few hidden areas with more equipment.

There's an axe somewhere in the forest, in case you don't have your own. It might be +2, can't remember.
There should be a mace (also +2?) on the same pile.

I suggest using maces vs about everything that walks around in the mausoleum, for double the damage.
Edit: Except maybe the shadows and zombies. Just test it out which weapon type does more damage do them.

Edit2: Oh, and don't feel guilty about creating characters with 18 in every stat. This makes the game a lot easier.
High strength makes you hit more often with higher damage. It's incredibly useful to have this as high as possible.

Thanks! Yes, I was planning on having 18s in relevant stats (to not be too much OP), but I did want to check out the third game, esp. since I had heard about the sound issues.

Is it me, or does the music in mausoleum sound glitched? Has it always sounded like that? It sounds the same on every youtube video, and honestly, it sounds like a cacophony, rather than proper mausoleum SFX/music.
The sound is absolutely horrible, yes. Thankfully it can be fixed; see this thread, it's explained here:
https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=20601

Basically: The engine of the game, aesop/16, sucks, and you can replace it with aesop/32, which will remove the sound problems.

If you can't find the right files in that thread/ can't figure out how to install aesop/32, let me know, so I can send you my files.

Gotcha:
So most videos I've seen use Dosbox with aesop 16? I thought some of them might use the guide above (or play it on actual DOS) so I was specifically looking through different LPs to see if someone had different music in the mausoleum. I figured since they (and neither I) had the issue with crackling I read about in a recent thread, I figured the sound had been fixed and was the best it could be.

So with 32 it doesn't sound that horrendous in the mausoleum, right?

If you could send them, yes please, I'd love it!
All right, I did a quick test and think these are all the files you need.
https://avatar.home.xs4all.nl/Eob3fix.rar
Just unrar them into your game folder, overwrite, and run as usual.

And yes, it doesn't sound that horrendous as before, although the sound is still pretty bad in this game. :)

Thanks! I've tried it and feel that although the music is the same, it sounds a bit more clearer and not as bad as before. By the way, do you know why in some videos I've seen an "All Attack" button below the ingame arrow keys that makes all characters attack with their melee weapons at the same time? It's missing in mine and I'm using the GOG install.

Can you please quote me so I get alerted to your response?

The music is probably the same, yeah, but there's not much of it anyway. It's the sound effects that simply stop tripping, which is heaven-sent.

The All Attack button only appears once you've selected which party members you want to attack. You do that by clicking once on a character's name with the left mouse button. Their name will become yellow and that button will appear.

Thanks! I'll do that, I usually just click on the weapons, so I didn't know.
