Hey guys, I've always kept the seal intact and I hear he gets angry but does this have any real lasting affect in the rest of the game? I'm curious since I'm working on a potential speedrun, and I don't want to borrow a robber from the adventurer's hall if I can avoid it just to get some early gauntlets.

No, there is no lasting effect if you break the seal and steal his stuff :).
