Well, I actually managed to make it so that I can't go any further in the game. Try to follow what I did and how I got to this point.

I made it past the medusa maze and got to the place where Dran drops me to the Frost Giant prison. But I forgot to pick up the hilt of talon on the way. When I realized this, after finishing the Frost Giant Level and teleporting to the temple, I went back up through the levels, got through the medusa maze again and this time picked up the hilt of talon. After battling countless spirits, I finally made it back to the place where Dran dropped me down the hole, except it is surrounded by transparent walls so I can't get back to the Frost Giant Level in order to teleport back to the temple.

I tried going back the other way, through the door that opens and closes when medusa's are on the plates, but it seems there is no activity going on anymore and the door won't open back up.

So that's it. I'm stuck.

FWIW, I think this is a terrible programming decision made by the creators of this game. Back in the 90s when I first played this whole trilogy, I made sure I didn't make dumb mistakes like I just made. Still, a decision like this shouldn't result in you having no place to go, especially not this late in the game.

If anybody else has encountered this same problem and has a solution (I don't see any) I'd love to know what it is. I really don't want to have to start the game all over, especially with it taking me 10 days to get through the skeleton lord level. That was absolutely the worst.

Appreciate any help anybody can give me.

Thanks.
Can you teleport back to the frost giant prison by means of the portal wall? Do you have the key for it? It should be the Stone Dagger (with an orange outline).

If all else fails, you can google "eye of the beholder all seeing eye". It's a mapper/editor which you can use to edit your inventory and give yourself that item.

As for the design... yeah, it's a tough game, as games often were back in the day. At least EotB2 gave multiple saves, which its predecessor completely lacked.

You can destroy the walls by simply attacking them with your melee weapons. It may take a few hits.
Interesting, I didn't know you could shatter those walls. I tried it out and it seems two of the four walls can be destroyed. The other two appear indestructible.
