I've heard the patch really improves performance, so I was eager to try it out. I got EOB3 installed and played for about five minutes, just to get familiar with the interface, then followed instructions from this old thread. The process seemed to go fine, the only oddity was that the DAESOP utility produced an eye1.res file from the default EYE.RES instead of an eye2.res file like the documentation says. Unfortunately DOSBox now consistently crashes when I select option 1 (play EOB3) from the prompt that opens when you start EOB3.

I thought it might be an audio issue since that seems to be quite complex—the config/setup option (#2 in the startup prompt) asks if you want to use two sound cards simultaneously for music and sound effects—so I ran the wizard (option 2) and disabled sound entirely to troubleshoot. The game still crashes with audio disabled.

Anyone got any ideas on possible solutions? For anyone who's managed to play EOB3 with the ASEOP32 patch on Windows 10, did you have to set it up a different way? Any help would be much appreciated!

I have no idea whose guide I used to set it up. It runs fine for me and it's been sitting in my DOS games folder for a long while, so can't really help with how I did things.

I did give someone else on this forum a link to this file: https://avatar.home.xs4all.nl/Eob3fix.rar
It's a few files from my updated game folder which should hopefully fix your game when you overwrite your files.

Unfortunately I can't just pack the whole game folder and give you that, for obvious reasons, or I would have.

As far as I know, the GOG version is already patched to use the AESOP/32 engine (source), so I suggest you to reinstall the game without applying any patch. :-)

Ah, that's good to know! Excellent.
