OK, am I missing it? Never actually played Hillsfar back in the day. Skimmed through the manual but don't see it.

How/where do I save & quit?

Unfortunately the camp location at start, is the only place you can save the game.

The only way to do so is to take a ride back to the campsite at the upper right corner.
It's a stupid mechanic which was criticized even back in the day it's release.
